FACULTY FEATURE THE BALLET LAB- We are so happy to welcome the brilliant CHARLENE GIBBONS! Charlene graduated from Ryerson Theatre School with a BFA (Hons) in Performance Dance, and has since performed locally and internationally as a dancer and aerialist with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and Tokyo Disney. Trained in the Cecchetti Method of Ballet , she holds her Advanced 2, and has trained with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the Ailey school, l'Academie Mediterraneenne... de Danse, and ProArte Danza. After suffering various injuries, Charlene turned to the Pilates Method to help manage her pain, refine her alignment, and build strength. She received her comprehensive Pilates Certification (Mat, Chair, Reformer and Cadliiac) from Toronto’ s leading pilates studio, Body Harmonics, and the The Loft Academy in Toronto, Canada. She specializes in post-rehabailition, Pilates for dancers, and scoliosis. Her approach is informed by the latest in movement science and therapeutic health care. Charlene currently teaches at Body Harmonics and Mbody Physiotherapy. She is thrilled to be joining The Ballet Lab. Pilates has transformed Charlene’s body and abilities as a dancer and she is so excited to introduce this work to the dedicated dancers at ACE Dance Theatre. FACULTY FEATURE THE BALLET LAB- We can’t wait to be in the studio with the incredible DONALD THOM, First Soloist with the @nationalballet! Donald Thom was born in Kanata, Ontario and trained at Linda Jamieson School of Dance and The Royal Ballet Upper School. Mr. Thom danced with The Royal Ballet as a First Artist before joining The National Ballet of Canada as a member of the Corps de Ballet in 2015 and was promoted to First Soloist in 2019. Recently, Mr. Thom made his de...but as Puck in The Dream. His repertoire also includes The Mad Hatter in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Uncle Nikolai in The Nutcracker, Diamond Man in The Sleeping Beauty, Mitch in A Streetcar Named Desire and Business Man in Le Petit Prince. Mr. Thom has also danced roles in Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, Giselle, Cinderella, Onegin, The Winter’s Tale, The Merry Widow, La Sylphide, Paquita, The Four Seasons, The Second Detail, The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude, Approximate Sonata 2016, Genus, Emergence, and many more! Mr. Thom also created roles in Untouchable by Hofesh Shechter, Woolf Works by Wayne McGregor and performed in the world premiere of The Winter’s Tale by Christopher Wheeldon.
