Hey Fellow Acroyogis, To be honest acro has taken the back burner at this time with so much hapening in the world today. All of our events have been cancelled and our training spaces closed until further notice. We are being stongly encouraged to create social distance, and unfortunatly this means that acroyoga is not an advisable practice at this time for us. Some of us are lucky to have people around us to practice physically, others may not. ... Its a good time to reflect for us as a community on what brings us to this practice? For me I would say what has kept me coming back are the connections I have made and nurtured over the years, not just by practicing acroyoga but by connecting with the community from my heart, listening to peoples stories and being together and present. So even if you need to keep your distance physically from your community try not to distance yourselves emotionally and mentally too. Chances are we are all going through ups and downs together right now and it has helped me so much to share what I am going through with my community. I hope you are all healthy, We are so looking forward to the next Jam when it becomes possible. All the best from Devon French and Vancity Acro

UNITY POP FLOW I had the absolute pleasure to be able to teach at the last @vancouveracrofest and of course we had to find a bit of time to create a new and playful flow for you all to try, so here it is, another Slava & Coral Crawford original! Remember to play safe and use spotters if you need to!... www.vancityacro.com

BASE INLOCATE DRILLS Over the years there has been a lot of interest in more more standing acrobatics and having been part of the circus world for the last five years it’s been an eye opting experience to witness and partake in the rigorous training and calibrations that it requires too achieve certain skills. So here’s a drill for those of you who are wanting specifically to work on your Inlocates and calibrate the timing, the pressure, the control and the various speeds and... absorptions that it takes to do this beautiful transition. Work within your weight range especially if you’re going to start to let go of the bar over your head, begin with a slow load while feeling the pressure with your legs against the floor and the arms against the bar, once you begin the squat tighten your core to protect the back, finish the extension through your legs and follow through with your arms to create the pulse that you need to be able to release, in real life when you’re basing your flyer you will need to have quite a bit of lift through the initial portion of the inlocate and an extra little burst of energy to finish the rotation, once your flyers over please don’t pull the arms down, rather control the descent by absorbing with your arms and if need be absorbing with the legs to keep your body safe. If you’re comfortable add more weight and progress slowly. Make sure to watch the bar the entire time as you would a flyer to train your eyes and the depth of field. Videotape yourself doing the motion and notice if you’re pushing from one side more than the other, are the knees bending in one direction or are you crunching to one side either on the lift or the absorb, these are all great things to fix within your individual practice before giving your flyers all the instructions Give yourself a chance to train outside of your partnership and when you come together not only will you feel stronger, but the skills that you’re trying to achieve will come to you much easier and minimize the risk of something going wrong, which prevents long-term injuries. Note: you don’t have to use a 45 lbs bar, use a weight that is suitable for YOU as long as your are comfortable lifting it over your head and comfortable catching it. This is a drill that’s help me progress my practice even more and refined the sensitivities of the power dynamic that it takes to do some of the bigger skills, but more importantly it is taught me how to use my legs as much as my arms, which is key for sustainability. A huge thank you to Connell Green and Clare Sparks for the awesome training session today and I hope that all of you integrate this simple yet very effective drill and that it helps you on you’re standing acrobatics journey. THE SHORT & SWEET FLOW Sometimes keeping it short and sweet is the best plan, here is a Slava and Lesley Kennedy original flow that we know you will enjoy and we hope you give it a try! www.vancityacro.com

It's been really fun getting to calibrate and play with Dasha Kalinikina and Millette Núñez. Here we are working on the star walk drills that acromillissa and Devon love so much. Full disclosure: This is a very challenging skill. We used spotters many times before we tried without. It falls in at times surprising ways. So give it a try but play super safe. Have fun with it too

Loving our time in Thailand so far! It's been really nice to finally meet and play with Dasha Kalinikina. I have found the Акро Тренинг с Дашей и Катей. AcroYoga Siberia crew to be super inspirational with the way they practice. Next opportunity to practice with us will be in Singapore for the 11th and 12th of January 2020. Come make some new year's resolutions with us!! https://facebook.com/events/s/vancity-flowlabs-20/436535117077969/?ti=cl
