She brought the rich sound of strings to various orchestras, ensembles and productions, such as Early Music Vancouver, the Sound of Dragon Ensemble, the Vancouver Island symphony and Father John Misty. Over the last few years, Marina has shifted her attention to mainly focus on experimental music, improvisation and composition. Since then, she has been increasingly active on the creative music scene, performing with leading local, Canadian and international improvisers. She premiered solo cello and ensemble works, by composers Giorgio Magnanesi, Lisa Cay Miller, Howard Skempton, Peggy Lee, Carmen Braden, Andrea Young, Jordan Nobles, Mark Haney, John Oswald, John Korsrud, Tony Wilson, and many more. Drawing on years of playing in these various scenes, Marina is now merging all her experiences to create a language of her own. Her debut album, produced by Jesse Zubot, will be released in 2021. Her first EP, released in 2018 on Black Bough Records, combines guitar, voice and electronics into song forms that stagger between structure and improvisation. Kee Avil evolved from playing the guitar with broken cymbals and drumsticks into creating strange beats glued together by samples of screws dropped into crystal bowls. The result is a noisy avant-pop sound, defined by a sense of organized chaos that borders between the weird and the familiar. Over the past few years, Kee Avil toured throughout the USA, Europe and Canada - sharing the stage with artists such as Marc Ribot, Fly Pan Am, Pere Ubu and Bill Orcutt.
