Survival of the Friendliest how our closest relationships help us thrive. How many true blue friends can you say you have? To be honest, I have a small pocket of very close friends I have had my whole life. I love getting together with this bunch of amazing women, because when I do, it is like no time has passed at all. We simply pick up right where we left off last time. Over the past five years, each of us has been through life-changing stressors. Job losses, separation, ...divorce, marriage, parenting, careers, burnout can really knock the wind out of your sails. The beauty of this amazing group is that we simply accept and love each other for who we are, and where we are at this very moment in time. We don’t feel the need to put on airs, or try to impress each other. We give and receive support, and know we are loved. McMaster University has done a study on young mothers and has noted an increase in mental health issues for mothers between age 15 21. Many mothers experienced depression or anxiety. There are discussions on how to provide wrap around services to these vulnerable mothers. What is SEAM Therapy? Supportive, Educational, Abstinence, Maintenance Therapy. Our next set of groups begin May 11th for individuals supporting someone in recovery and May 12th for individuals themselves in recovery or still struggling. Each group runs for 6 weeks. ...
