Here's a little festive poem to make an important announcement for December ( because announcements are much more fun when delivered in poetry format): 'Twas the month before Christmas and all through the store, Was clothing and footwear and housewares galore!... Donations were plentiful, townspeople were busy, But all of their cleaning was making us dizzy! For eleven long months volunteers did their best. They finally stated, "It's time for a rest!" To work through the excess, we'd just like to ask For time in December to finish our task. So hold your donations until this year's done. We'll catch up, then rest up for 2021! (See? It was much more interesting this way. By the way, stop by the store for our "Merry Mugging" specials this week. Check out the poster for more details).

If you're like me, your 2020 calendar has looked very empty. Well, here's one thing that isn't cancelled: our last Bag Sale of the year! From Tuesday November 23rd to Saturday November 28th, fill bags of clothing for only $3 each. Non-clothing items are regular price, but selection goes really fast so stock up early. Please wear your mask to keep us all healthy.

Masks are now REQUIRED for all customers over age 2 and staff at Act II. Please wear your mask or you will not be allowed inside. People are our greatest treasure and we need to keep everyone safe & healthy!

Act II will be closed today due to prolific quantities of sub-zero precipitation (translation: too much snow) that makes it challenging for our staff to get to work. Most of Act II's workers are volunteers, some live out of town and are dedicated enough to make the drive each week. Next time you stop in, thank a volunteer!

Act II Thrift Store will be closed on Wednesday November 11th as we take time to remember those who sacrificed so much for our freedom.

It's getting chilly! We're still limiting the number of customers at one time in the store, but you can help in a couple ways: please limit your visit to 30 minutes so we can let others in as quickly as possible try our Shop By Appointment (available Tuesday to Friday, 9am to 11:30). It's officially FALL. When the temperature PLUMMETS, the leaves will too. Why not DROP in at Act II for some goodies? DIVE in to a great book during the final week of our massive book sale (10 books for $1). We're also bringing out our warm sweaters, toques, gloves and jackets. I'll LEAF the puns alone now so you can do some shopping.

My husband: "See? I can fit all of my favourite books into a single box." Me: "Our whole house does not qualify as a 'box', dear." If you're looking to pick up some great reads for the colder months, we've got a great deal for you. From Tuesday Sept. 15th to Saturday Sept. 26th, Act II is having a Book Bonanza! Get 10 books for $1.00, and you can mix-and-match to get variety for your family and friends!

We just got a huge batch of canning jars in! Run on over and stock up for 50 cents each, because they won't last. We're open today until 4pm and tomorrow from noon to 4.

Act II will be closed from Saturday Sept. 5th to Monday Sept. 7th so we can pretend summer is not quite over (otherwise known as Labour Day long weekend). See you on Tuesday!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Act II Thrift Store will be closed today (Thursday Sept. 3rd). We're sorry for the inconvenience but will reopen tomorrow and be extra friendly!

If we could give 2020 a report card, we would include some stern remarks about changing its direction and taking on a more positive attitude, being a better team player and living up to its full potential. (Good thing we're not responsible for this task)! That aside, we're saying good-bye to summer with a BAG SALE from Tuesday August 25th to Saturday August 29th. Fill a bag with clothes for only $3. Once the sale ends, so will our summer clothing selection until 2021. Stock up now on shorts, capris, summer dresses and tops to prepare for next year. Now that's great value that any economics teacher could be proud of!

Treasures everywhere I look! Act II may be small, but we're constantly getting the neatest things in. Stop by to see what's new and find that precious item that you've just got to take home.

Anyone else feeling hypothermic? Let's pretend that summer is not over yet...NeighbourLink is inviting everyone to a fabulous BBQ! Put on a few warm layers, thaw out those feet and shuffle on over to the YIG parking lot on Friday August 28th from 10 to 2. They'll be serving up takeout style hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks to warm your stomachs and your hearts!

Our Bag Sale just ended, but here's a tongue twister to introduce our new bargain: buy a bundle of books for a buck! (Translation: it's a BOOK SALE!) Bundles of 5 paperback novels are $1. That's like buying 4 and getting a bonus book! Kids' books are 10 for $1! All other books are Buy 4, 5th is FREE.... Take a vacation without leaving your station, There's no need for motion to rest by the ocean, You don't have to travel for plots to unravel, Make friends of all ages as you flip through the pages!

Here's how we feel about the weather recently! Act II still has several pairs of rain boots for you adventurous types, or lots of great summer reading for those who prefer to stay indoors.

Happy Canada Day! We will be closed on Wednesday July 1st, BUT....starting on Thursday July 2nd we will be back to our regular store hours (Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 4pm). We're still limiting customers to 3 at a time for now, and Bag Sale pricing continues until Saturday July 4th. We will also be taking donations again on Monday and Friday mornings, or anytime the store is open. (And we wouldn't feel truly Canadian without saying "sorry" for taking so long to return to normal hours).

We've got BC Farmer's Market coupons! If you're low income, a senior or an expecting mother, we can help. Ask for your weekly coupons at the front desk.

We have a favour to ask you. If you can PLEASE hold your donations for a week or two, we'd appreciate it. Since March, we have gotten so many donations that we're running out of room, both in-store and in storage. We need to catch up with the piles we already have. DO NOT DUMP ITEMS OUTSIDE OUR DOORS WHEN THE STORE IS CLOSED! This happens too often and is not welcome. Call us or send us a message on Facebook to make alternate arrangements. Thank you!

How we have been affected by COVID-19: we are the only place in town taking donations right now, and can get overwhelmed easily we are working with a fraction of our usual volunteers, in order to keep everyone healthy we do not have someone in the store every day, so please do not dump items outside without contacting us in advance we are only working to receive & sort incoming donations twice a week, so be patient with us... if your items are broken, dirty or missing pieces, we can't take them and it wastes our time and precious storage space When you support us, here are some benefits: your donations are appreciated, and we directly support NeighbourLink through their sales to shop by appointment, message us on Facebook or leave a message on the store answering machine (250-567-9018) we are happy to receive your donations on Mondays & Fridays from 9am to noon, or other days/times by appointment we continue to serve our community as best as we are able during these challenging times if you would like to volunteer, we'd love your help!

We really miss all our customers and look forward to having some great chats again! For now, Act II Thrift Store is waiting for updates from the BC government and Northern Health Authority to determine how and when we can safely reopen to the public.
