A note from ACTION Milton Chair George Minakakis 'This is far from over, and so we continue to fight' Doug Ford #Keepyourpromise and #stopcampbellvilleQuarry

JDCL is now in the position to say the Campbellville quarry application is ready to proceed to an LPAT hearing. Therefore, the clock is still ticking and the community continues to live with uncertainty and risk. Doug Ford #KEEPYOURPROMISE and #STOPCAMPBELLVILLEQUARRY
Community members need to focus on responding to the challenges the COVID 19 emergency has created for their families, their work, their businesses and the local economy. The community should not have to bear the burden of protecting itself from the potential negative impacts of the Campbellville quarry. Doug Ford #KEEPYOURPROMISE to Milton and #STOPCAMPBELLVILLEQUARRY
MPP Gill asked the community for patience and Robert Thompson, Executive Assistant to MPP Parm Gill said a decision would be announced ‘soon’.However, the delay in announcing a decision has consequences for the community. The clock is still ticking. Community members are uncertain as to whether they must continue to consult lawyers and commission experts to conduct studies in preparation for a possible Local Planning Appeals Tribunal hearing. Until the decision is made to formally stop the quarry, the community must keep working against the quarry because we cannot take the risk of the JDCL application proceeding to an LPAT hearing. Doug Ford #KEEPYOURPROMISE to Milton. Doug Ford and Parm Gill promised to stop the Campbellville quarry. Delaying the final decision to stop the quarry creates uncertainty and community stress. Remember, JDCL can trigger a countdown to an LPAT hearing now - requiring the community to raise $500K+ for LPAT hearing defence. #1 priority is COVID recovery, not LPAT hearings. Doug Ford #KEEPYOURPROMISE and #STOPCAMPBELLVILLEQUARRY
Stopping the Campbellville quarry will prevent particulate matter from the proposed project polluting the air that Milton residents breathe. Our representatives have made it clear they will stop the quarry but have not revealed how or when they will do it.
A decision to stop the proposed quarry will ensure the groundwater that supplies the drinking water needs of 20,000+ Milton residents will not be affected by quarrying operations. Protect the drinking water in our community - Tell MPP Parm Gill to Stop the proposed Quarry Contact Info - Email: [email protected], Tel: 905-878-1729
It is because of your persistent advocacy that our representatives are listening and have made it clear they will stop the proposed quarry! But we need this formal decision to be made as soon as possible. The clock is ticking! It is important that you contact MPP Parm Gill in the next few days with this message:... 1. Thank you for advocating with Premier Ford on behalf of the community to stop the Campbellville quarry. 2. I urge you to announce your formal decision very soon. The clock is ticking. We can’t stop preparing our challenge to the proposed quarry until there is an announcement of the details as to how the quarry will be stopped.
