Tomorrow is World Spine Day! Lower back pain is extremely common, but in many cases, it can be preventable. Here are some tips to prevent back pain:... Maintain a healthy diet and weight. Remain activeunder the supervision of your health professional. Avoid prolonged inactivity or bed rest. Warm-up or stretch before exercising or physical activities, such as gardening. Maintain proper posture. Wear comfortable, low-heeled shoes. Sleep on a mattress of medium firmness to minimize any curve in your spine. Lift with your knees, keep the object close to your body, and do not twist when lifting. Quit smoking. Smoking impairs blood flow, resulting in oxygen and nutrient deprivation to spinal tissues. Work with your doctor of chiropractic to ensure that your computer workstation is ergonomically correct. Stay tuned for more tips and facts tomorrow! If you are experiencing back pain, or want to get a jump start to help avoid issues in the future, book a consultation by calling (902) 539-2224, email us at [email protected], or book online at https://www.activeapproach.ca. Many people wait until they've suffered an injury to visit a massage therapist. But, did you know that massage therapy is also helpful in preventing the injury from occurring at all? Here are just some of the ways massage therapy can help you avoid injuries: 1. Increasing Blood Flow... Blood provides nutrients that assist in relieving pain, so increasing blood flow can have outstanding results in preventing injuries in the future. 2. Increasing Flexibility Relaxing your muscles helps increase flexibility, giving fitness enthusiasts and chronically ill people the range of motion needed to avoid subluxations, strained muscles, and other injuries. 3. Reducing Muscle Pain When a muscle is injured, in most cases the surrounding muscles will compensate by taking on a more active role. Reducing the pain on the injured muscle will increase their ability to work without that support. 4. Fixing and Protecting Problem Areas Visiting a massage therapist can help you pinpoint areas that may cause issues in the future so you can keep an eye on it and adjust your routine as needed. This also helps your recovery from current issues in order to address the problem so you know exactly what to look out for in the future. If you are experiencing pain, or want to get a head start in avoiding injury, please contact us to book a consultation at (902) 539-2224, email us at [email protected], or book online at https://www.activeapproach.ca. We look forward to helping you Get Back to Your Active Life!

It is a day to honour their survivors, their families, and their communities. In honour of this important step toward reconciliation, our clinic will be closed. We will reopen Friday, October 1st.
