To say 2020 was a challenging year would be an understatement. This Thanksgiving we have to search deep and we should to look for things in our life to be Thankful for. From a business standpoint we are thankful to our customer for showing faith in Active once more awarding us a new long term agreement. From a personal standpoint as I enter the twilight of my approaching 50 year career working with different teams I can say without hesitation this team including my friends re...presented by Teamsters are among the finest I have been associated with. I started working with Teamster local 469 in February 1971. I am proud to have supported Teamster jobs for almost 50 years. The Active management and staff is truly a pleasure to work with. On a personal note I am most thankful that Janet and I became proud grandparents this year. Happy Thanksgiving to all and please be safe out there. See more

If there ever was a Labor Day we should honor the men and women at Active it is this Labor Day. Our highway heroes, the folks that bring the trucks from plants, the folks in the office and those that carefully deck loads for our drivers are working under conditions that most of us never faced in our lifetime. Welcome back to the 35 Active employees recalled this week. It is good to have you back. Each of you will have already gone through some orientation. We all want to follow CDC guidelines. All employees have been asked not to return if they are sick. We will hold your position. The Kenworth and Peterbilt plants are being very responsible with their production ramp up. We hope to have more recalls as production levels increase. As you would expect sales have dropped dramaticall...y the last two months. Hopefully there is some pent up demand and we will see orders start to increase in the 3rd Quarter. I will do my best to keep you updated here and of course the terminal staff is always available to answer questions. I want to let my friends know whose pension fund at Central States is supported by Active USA that I sent another letter to Senator Rob Portman R OH asking for his support to save this important pension fund. Senator Sherm Brown D OH is solidly on board. Active USA and its predecessors never missed a contribution on your behalf. However, due to the numerous employers that have gone out of business there is considerable unfunded liability that needs congressional help to solve.... This global pandemic has created a need for the Federal government to provide assistance for businesses and employees to survive. I made the point with Senator Portman that essential workers who are delivering the trucks to the companies who keep the supply chain going for food and medical supplies deserve to keep the pension promised to them. These Highway Heroes, as I referred to you, deserve equal attention. Please take the opportunity to go on line to your congressman and senators website and leave a message asking for their support. Hello everyone. PACCAR has publicly announced that production in Denton and Chillicothe will commence at a very low production rate Monday May 4th. That is great news. There are Covid 19 protocols that must be followed in manufacturing that they have planned and will now implement. This is good news. We are still awaiting official information regarding Renton, Boisbriand and México. We very much look forward to beginning the recall process and the terminal management will be ...communicating to employees as we understand the capacity needed. As always if you have any question the terminal staff is available to answer your questions and Dave and I are always available if you would like to speak to either of us. We sincerely hope you and your family have remained safe and healthy. While we are still dealing with the effects of the pandemic ,new truck orders still continue a good trend. All Active employees have been recalled for months and we have been continuing to hire. We have a new class starting today. We are struggling to find the high quality drivers we need at Active and want to remind all of our employees we are paying a recruiting bonus for your help. We have new brochures being printed which will be sent out to the terminals. Locals 745 and ...413 have volunteered to host a job fair in the near future. Be safe out there. Wear your mask when around others. Wash your hands frequently. Most importantly thanks to all the Active essential workers for the job they are doing during these challenging times.
