As we move into the colder months,2021 would be extremely challenging for our seniors. Apart from having to deal with the cold ,snow and icy pavements They also have to protect themselves from the flu and the worldwide #pandemic .Seniors without Borders is preparing to connect our seniors remotely, so that they can hear a caring voice during winter, which would ease the isolation and loneliness.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who are taking care of their elderly parents some of whom are seniors themselves. Also the husbands or wives who are taking care of their partners who might the suffering from Alzheimer or dementia. A big thank you.
Today,let us stay away from all the bad news that may lead to anxiety and depression. Let's get out on this sunny fall day and enjoy the beauty of all the fall colours.
As the number of #COVID19 cases continue to rise in Ontario, we must not leave our loved ones to languish in long-term residences ;seniors in these facilities seem to pay the ultimate price of dying from isolation and loneliness. As as society, we have to take better care of the elderly.
According to government reports,we are now entering the second phase of COVID19,please get your prescriptions filled and stack up on food. Do get the necessary essentials to avoid any line ups and crowded places.
Hospitals in Ontario are planning to provide health care services to more seniors in their homes. This approach would free up beds for surgery and other critical related issues. One of the things they do want to occur is a situation similar to spring of 2020
It is Monday morning, let us all embrace the day and enjoy ourselves.
We will continue to advocate for vulnerable seniors in Toronto.The pandemic has increased many challenges including housing and food security.
As we move forward, we need better outcomes for our seniors .No one should have to die of loneliness and isolation. The same protocols that are established for workers in long-term care residences, such as the wearing of masks and hand washing should be followed by relatives and friends.
Let us get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather.Do not be a hostage in your own bubble.
Many seniors suffered tremendously during this pandemic. Their mental health deteriorated significantly, as visitors were barred from visiting the sick and the elderly. Many seniors died in their rooms without their loved ones;even the rituals of funerals and mourning were all restricted. Let us encourage our seniors to take advantage of the warm weather and experience some sense of normalcy ,even with the current restrictions.

We are aware that many seniors are not to comfortable using technology,but since #COVID19 and the greater demand in the use smart phones,tablets and bank cards to carry out transactions.Our organization will be ramping up the teaching of seniors how to use social media as a communication tool. We are currently preparing them for winter 2021, and in the event of a second wave of this pandemic our seniors would be better prepared.
