As I've been phasing out my focus on "Active Care Seniors" I've changed my Facebook attention to "Peoples History Publications" which is where I'm now posting. You can see the site: https://www.facebook.com/peopleshistorypublications/ and if you would, please "Like" it. Thank you.

In this week's paper I had two articles (because one did not get in last week's edition). Check on the link below for pages 2 (re: Traffic) and page 18 (re: Menopause) ... I thought that would get your attention. http://eedition.niagaraadvance.ca//niagara_ad/2015102801/... Oh, and Wayne Gretzky was in town. His new winery will be down the street on highway 55.

With such a strong emphasis on Canada's role of being the terminus of the Underground Railroad, "we" forget that slavery was legal until about 1833, and it wasn't just Africans who were slaves. The North Star Symposium helped me better understand some of our history. See my article on page 7 of the Niagara Advance. Correction: My first paragraph was edited, and incorrectly indicates that Chloe Cooley was trying to reach Canada, while the plaque in her honour states she was trying to stay in Canada. http://eedition.niagaraadvance.ca//niagara_ad/2015100701/

NOTL Library InfoHealth lectures are back for another season, second Wednesday of the month at 1 pm. The latest was a "lively" presentation by two young medical students, on "Sex Education for Seniors." If other groups would be interested to hear their presentation I would highly recommend Tasha and Nadiya, as the topics they covered are important for our aging society. The day before my article on "The paradox between mice and men" appeared I happened to catch another "Whiskers." Since s/he had not been in the trap for very long s/he did a lightning escape as soon as s/he found open grass.

Peoples History Publications has just released it's latest work, "Berries, Tickles and Saltwater Ice - Expanded Edition" by Reg Faust. 281 pages of stories of p...eople of the rock, with photographs by Dennis Minty. It was a pleasure and challenge working with Reg, and his Newfie-isms, but we both had a lot of fun. When most people first pick up the book they look at one photo, then quickly look for more. The stories Reg tells are just as dramatic. Copies are available. See more
