A wild Canada Lynx tucked away in some thick bushes in British Columbia. I got lucky with a tiny opening through the trees and all the bushes and was able to capture an okay portrait. This image was taken with a telephoto lens and cropped, when photographing Wildlife its always important to be respectful and give them their space.

A big Old Male Bison standing in a Prairie Dog town in the Canadian prairies. Which one do you prefer original colour or Black & White?

Nice beard bro! I’ve been spending most of my time photographing a family of River Otters lately. I haven’t got the shots I’m after yet but feel like I’m finally starting to get closer.

After about 4 hours of laying completely still in the snow watching a family River Otters, This guy decided to swim right up to me to investigate. He ended up coming so close I couldn’t even focus on him anymore with the lens I had on. This shot was taken about 12 feet from where I was laying. I still can’t believe he came over and got that close to me, what a great experience this was.

A Pygmy Owl with a freshly caught Vole. I’ve been wanting to capture a Pygmy Owl hunting for years and a few days ago it finally happened. I was able to photograph this guy catching and eating 2 out of the 3 Voles he got within a few hours. It’s pretty amazing watching them wrestle a Vole almost the same size as them, it was almost like watching a cowboy riding a Bull. I don’t even know how a bird that small can eat that much but he did, and what he didn’t eat he stashed in a nearby cache.

A Barred Owl doing some tail feather maintenance. Most Owls spend a fair amount of time preening, maybe that’s why they always look flawless. . . . .... . . . . . . . . . #owl #barredowl #owls #birdsofprey #raptor #owlsofinstagram #nuts_about_birds #ip_birds #birdextreme #birdnerd #your_best_bird #birdfreak #birding #bird_brillance #bird_perfection #birdphotography #okanagan #okanaganlife #hellobc #beautifulbritishcolumbia #owls #birdsofinstagram #keepcanadawild #birding_lounge #birdwatching See more

The Richardson Ground Squirrel. Although they are close relatives of pocket gophers & prairie dogs, Richardson's ground squirrels are a separate species. They’re one of 21 species of ground squirrels found in North America, all of which live in and on the ground. I caught this little guy picking some grass just outside his den early one morning in the Saskatchewan prairies.

This was one of those oh shit moments! I had been laying on the ground for about 5-6 hours way out in a Prairie dog town waiting for a Badger to wake up. When I heard some grunting...I slowly lifted my head and turned around to see a big herd of Bison passing through only about 100 feet or less from where I was laying. As soon as l saw them they saw me and I definitely took them by surprise. The big Bull instantly stopped, he stood like a statue with his eyes locked on me as the others passed by him. There was absolutely nowhere to go or hide so I just laid there trying to look as small and non threatening as I could. Which was basically the only smart move at this point. Luckily for me this big guy was in a good mood and after the whole herd had past he turned and followed them.

A Coyote looking a little nervous after stealing a big chunk of Elk meat from a Wolf kill. The Wolves were still nearby so this was a risky move for this Coyote and his mate, but in this case the risk seemed worth the reward. They were both able to fill their bellies and cache enough for the next few days maybe even the week!
