It’s Laker season!!! It felt like forever for opener to come but it sure didn’t take long to get a bite!! The fishing here is something special and Donnys 35 Laker is just the tip of the iceberg of what’s in store this season!! It’s been very tricky dissecting these new rules and regulations that apply to our business but we feel we have got a grasp on how to accommodate our anglers in an appropriate and safe manner. The biggest gravel lizard we’ve seen so far topside this winter . You really don’t need live bait out here the way these fish like to chomp, you just got to piss them off a bit and WACK!!! **UPDATE** As many as you are aware after yesterday’s news we took yet another step back. Our phone has been ringing off the hook and we assure you we will reach out to every booking that is affected. These new rules are confusing, and yes we have to wait untill the 16th to see if we are aloud to honour bookings not in hot spot areas, and after the 22nd we hope to be able to accommodate all our bookings. But realistically with this new emergency break rule now we may not kn...ow if we can operate until the day before which makes things a little more challenging. We understand you are frustrated that your vacation is in jeopardy but please don’t take it out on Kayla or Myself, the negativity is not welcomed. Fishing/ a winter vacation unfortunately is not essential and we are just trying to play by these confusing rules. Your two or three days my be effected, but our livelihood is now in jeopardy, and the health of our small community. Please look at the big picture. The sad part is it doesn’t sound like these rules are going to stop the majority of you from travelling to go fishing, the amount of comments saying we can still rent a motel so we are coming anyways or going to camp on the ice are very disheartening and do not make us feel optimistic that things will get better. Please fish around home, stay within your family units and don’t travel especially to small rural community’s. It sucks but we have to try, we want to be open and have been working our butts off this past 2 weeks to make sure your stay is incredible but most of all a safe and healthy one for you’re group, our family and our community. we get to see some of you after the 16th! Another amazing day in blue sky country . We spent the day exploring from Cross Lake too Baie Jeanne. The highlight of the adventure was finding this fresh moose shed. I’m not a experienced shed hunter by any means but this one seems super fresh. The shed it self was really sticky, smells like evergreen and has lots of old growth goodies jammed in between the tines. Not to mention it still seems pretty red around the base. We found some fresh moose scat earlier down the trail. We are thinking we weren’t far behind this bull moose dropping his rack. This past fall I spent hours... more like days auto charting Lake Temagami to put you folks on the best possible spots this winter! As lots of ice anglers know ice it’s all about the numbers and some days the difference of a few feet. As fish patterns change throughout the winter so will we! We took a couple days off from fishing to get caught up on the to do list. All the heaters and C02 sensors are being inspected or upgraded where needed and then they will all be off to their winter homes around the lake. We remain optimistic for Lake Trout season, and the areas we have pin pointed for the bungalows we know your going to enjoy!

For anyone needing a good laugh today take a peek at this one Hannah’s always a riot to fish with in the shack that’s forsure!! First off we know Lake Trout season doesn’t start untill February 15th but this was too good not to share so please enjoy!! Kayla finally made it out on the lake! She’s has been working so hard between the meal plan, cleaning, unpacking and being such an awesome mom, today was really her first day to truly enjoy Lake Temagami. It was such a beautiful afternoon for a boat ride and we stopped to see if could get her a chance at one these monster walleye that call this lake home! Sure enough we got one bite all afternoon from a chunky 26 walleye that will defiantly go down as Kayla’s fattest walleye! It’s all coming to and end! One more day of lake trout fishing for me tmrw and then it’s all over and then onto walleye!! We made it out for a couple hours this afternoon and it was special, fish were aggressive, chasing baits almost to the surface! Got my dad his first lake trout at 28 and I’ve got my PB now out here at 33! This type of fishing is addicting!! Was so happy my aunt Paige and good buddy made the trip for a visit and got to be there along side these fish hitting the net and checking out the new lodge! Thanks for the wicked pictures Jeff! What a weekend to be on lake Temagami! This weekend was my friends and I’s annual fishing trip we called the Schooner Cup. We all arrived on Lake Temagami this time last year for the first time and it’s where the love of Temagami started for us all, me especially! It was a very special moment too see my best friends show up at the docks of my family’s new home. The amount of encouragement this group of guys has given us through this process this past year has been nothing s...hort of amazing. It all started as a dream and now it’s a reality!!! It meant the world to Kayla, Hannah and I to be your hosts this time around ! Now to the fishing! And the boys laid a beat down! The goal of the tournament is to catch the 4 main stream species Lake Temagami has to offer over 2 days. Small mouth, pike, walleye and lakers are all on the table and the individual who catches the largest total length of all 4 combined is the winner. This year I was the winner!! !!! It wasn’t easy and it was close! I won it with a total of 92, Brad was as close as you could get for 2nd at 91 3/4 and Bryan was in 3rd with 91! What a fun time!! This year Chevy took home the big walleye prize at 26 1/4, Brad took the smallmouth at 19 1/2 and Nate took two wins with a pike and a laker both at 30 1/2. To bad old Donny caught his blimp of a 38 lake trout a day before the tournament started! But hey that’s fishing and that was an amazing fish!!! So pumped for you bud!! Best thing is! There’s way bigger then that out here!! Who’s gonna take the cup next year?? One thing I know is that trophy will hang with pride at Loon Lodge for this year! Man what a riot jigging these lake trout are! Today was the first day we seriously started upgrading the laker size. My brother timed his visit perfectly and not even an hour in to his first time out here he sets into a 34 lake temagami beauty. Not to be outdone by @don_banes_44 with a blimp just over 34. I came in with a 32 and a hand full of other drag screamers in the mix! This lake is so amazing! So nice to have family and friends here sharing these memories with me! I... hope this is just the tip of the ice berg for what’s to come for the weekend! First weekend of accommodations and meals plans in the books!! The boys had a wicked time and Dat came in the big winner for the weekend with a 23 walleye! . Couldn’t have asked for a better group of lads to kick the temagami adventure off in style. It was a jammed packed weekend of water taxis to moving in and couldn’t be more thankful for my parents bringing another load up of stuff! The community out here has been so helpful and friendly. Our first guests have arrived and it’s been so awesome! Kayla’s been lights out in the kitchen cooking for a small army. Breakfast lunch and dinner she’s killing it! So proud of her . As for me I’m running around this lake like a chicken with my head cut from point A to Z and I love it! I was a little over into an hour taking the boys out for a little fish when Kayla radioed me that 4 guys in a boat flipped over in a boat in front of our lodge! The lads were able to swim to shore and we able to rescue the stray boat. It was a hectic day be we made some new friends because of it! Love the adventures this place brings! Today was a big day for Kayla and I! We officially own Loon Lodge!!! John and Jenny and the rest of the Moskwa family have been so kind welcoming us to the lake and teaching us sooo much in a short period of time! They really made us feel like family. We are starting to learn this lake seems like one big family. Everyone is so happy and helpful, I guess no matter where you’re from out here, we all have one thing in common, we all live on an island! As my wife and I are slow...ly figuring out, it takes a different breed for the island life but we are loving it! Lake Temagami is such an amazing place to call home and thanks once again John and Jenny being such big part of the dream becoming a reality! You two are truly amazing! On another note the Snack Bar will now be closed until June next year. But we will still be offering meal plans for our guests. Keep posted to our page for updates on when we will re open. It was another great day settling in out here. I had about an hour and a half to kill before my taxi ride today and found a little hunny hole! Only problem is I was dropping fish like crazy and only netted one fish out of 7 real good bites. Not to mention I think I had my first encounter with a real bruiser that shook it a minute or so into the battle . Im new to this lake trout thing and my go too so far is a 1oz jigging rap but it doesn’t seem to pin fish like when I get b...it on a single hook bait. But that rap gets bit way more and gets down so quick! O well all part of the puzzle, off to the tackle shop tmrw in hopes to find a few goodies for jigging these beauty’s. Only another month left to fish these lakers. It even switches to a trophy season here for a catch and release during September! What an amazing day! Was the first full day of doing water taxis! Did over well 200km in the boat today, Hannah even tagged along for a ride. Learning this lake is a massive task but I’m starting to get confident if the routes. But today was more about Hannah and Kayla. They have both settled in like the champs they are and Hannah is already trying to be a part of every aspect. She’s clearing tables , taking orders, baiting hooks, even hanging out in the cock pit of the MNR’s... plane when they stop in for a burger. This place is such an amazing place to call home. Well White Lake that’s a wrap! The last guided trip is over!! It’s a very bittersweet day. I have called this lake home for 15 years now and my experience here has been nothing short of a dream come true. This lake, the people, and my family are what have made this place so special. This fishing was just a bonus really. It’s going to be sad to leave it all behind on Monday but realistically I’m going to be so excited for what lies ahead I won’t sleep untill I’m there.
