As parents, we can often react in haste when our child consistently doesn’t want to do homework, can’t stay on task for long periods of time, is super forgetful and the list goes on. We become future focused thinking jeez, if they can’t do that now, how are they ever going to be able to navigate as an independent adult one day? In our efforts to teach and be good role models, our minds go to the future and the what if’s and our fear dictates our responses and behaviour. This article talks about how parents can inspire a GROWTH MINDSET. Worth the read! https://www.additudemag.com/how-to-praise-a-child-with-ad/

Emotional dysregulation is one of the hallmark characteristics of children with ADHD. The Calm and Connected parent group will help parents learn the skills required to teach their child how to regulate their emotions. The best thing about this is that it’s a SKILL, and just like learning how to ride a bike, ski, swim, walk or play an instrument is a learned skill, so is learning how to regulate emotions! ... The good news? Just like any other skill with perseverance, practice, patience and consistency, we can all learn to develop a new skill set yes, even managing emotions!!
