I’m home ostensibly to visit my parents as my mother is recovering (well) from a recent hip fracture. Just two days ago I was skiing in double digit minus tempe...ratures in Alberta and now Burlington is in double digit positive temperatures. I didn’t know Chinooks travelled this far East I’ve admired the privately owned iconic Burlington bookstore A Different Drummer Books for years. Next November it will be 50 years old. In the world of freelance there are no boundaries between personal and professional life and so while on shopping errands for food necessities I took a moment to drop into the store with a book under arm and introduce myself to the owner. Turns out the owner was behind the till and knows my mother well and within moments it felt like being at a friends house. As I motioned to my book Ian directed my gaze to the shelf where he already had it on display! So I signed them happily and we discussed holding an Ontario event with David Newland and I in the new year. Stayed tuned for more if you live in the area.
