Adopt A Stream 29.12.2020

Kristen H., Lab Manager from Dalhousie University, collecting a water sample for Environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis. The NSSA just finished collecting almost 100 eDNA samples in 8 watersheds across the province as a part of our Watershed Assessment Towards Ecosystem Recovery (WATER) Project. The water samples will be filtered and filters will then be sent to the lab for analysis. Based on the shed DNA molecules in the water samples, we'll be able to tell which species are pre...sent upstream of where the samples are taken. These results and all of the other ongoing work as a part of this project will help us and our community groups prioritize and focus our efforts in the future to make the biggest positive impact. For more info on eDNA and how it works just follow the link below: https://freshwaterhabitats.org.uk/projects/edna/edna/
