Today's release from the representative for Children and Youth’s report on Detained: Rights of children & youth under the Mental Health Act does NOT list statistics on the MENTAL HEALTH conditions of those detained! How many have ADHD? We don't know. They don't tell us. They don't criticize the government for not releasing the data. ... Or they never cared enough to look? Other? You’d think that the representative for Children and Youth’s report on Detained: Rights of children & youth under the Mental Health Act's 14 recommendations would ask for govt to collect & list the #MentalHealth conditions of youth detained given that the whole report was on MENTAL HEALTH? Wrong. They refused to ask! #ShowUsTheData Higher rates of considering, attempting and hospitalization of suicide in ADHD teens and adults. Higher rates of drug use, crime, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, being expelled from school with ADHD teens. So there are likely higher rates of of ADHD youth being detained under the mental healh act in BC. But we don’t know because the ADHD discriminating bcndp govt refused to count mental health conditions of kids detained.
