Check this out Fascia assembly brackets are typically produced through injection molding, but see what happens when we manufactured the same parts -in one step- with HP’s Multi Jet Fusion 3D printer... #AdvantageEngineering #HP #3DPrinting #InjectionMolding

Our Mold Ain’t Pretty But Your Rapid Prototype Sure Is! PLC Controlled Vacuum Casting is ideal for 50 or fewer plastic parts fast in almost any color, shape, hardness, opacity or flexibility. It is especially useful when the part’s design calls for intricate details or undercuts, or if it is reinforced with wire. PLC Controlled Vacuum Casting happens something like this: 1) An SLA master is 3D printed; 2) a mold is made by pouring silicone around the master; 3) the silicone hardens and is sliced into top and bottom sections; 5) the master is removed and stored for re-use; 6) the mold sections are set up in a vacuum chamber; 7) liquid polymers are drawn into the mold through suction created in the vacuum chamber; 8) the polymers are cured and harden; 9) the part is removed with minimal finishing required!

We Have Mastered the Art and Science of Overmolding Yikes spikes! Or should I say spokes? This image was captured on our Plant 1 floor in the PLC Controlled Vacuum Casting Zone. Shown here is one of our master craftsmen building a reusable master for plastic prototype ‘overmolding.’ This technique involves the vacuum casting (as opposed to Injection molding) of liquid plastic polymers around hard objects made of glass, plastic or metal set in a silicone mold. As the polymer hardens around these objects in this case threaded metal fasteners they become permanently embedded in the prototype, eliminating the need for adhesives or manual labor!

FOR PROTOTYPES LIKE THIS, CNC MACHINING JUST WON'T CUT IT! If you need texture, overmolding or undercuts -- especially in an over-sized part -- CNC machining is a no-go. Not so with Advantage additive +

The Hyperloop Competition was held on July 21 in Hawthorne, California. Our UWINLOOP team participated the first time with a unique Linear Induction Motor (LIM) drive system and with the biggest carbon fibre pod developed by ADVANTAGE ENGINEERING and UWINLOOP. The pod was designed around two large LIMs to provide lift and acceleration at the same time and a large battery to provide enough energy for the 1 mile race track. At the event Elon Musk had some advice for all innovative, future and present engineers: Keep it simple and reduce costs. If you see your plan becoming too long then change quickly and start a new design if needed. Advantage Engineering is following the same guiding principles and keeping our clients Ahead From Start to Finish.
