Adventure Camp Challenge

COVID-19 Update: Last Friday the Province announced that the current emergency measures, including the need for social distancing, will continue until May 31st. And in addition last week, the NS Provincial Health Officer, Karen Wong-Petrie, Director, NS Environmental Health & Food Safety send a letter to NS Summer Overnight Camp Operators to provide an update on whether or not the Province will allow their camps to open this coming summer. She indicated that, ... Given the nature of recreational camp activities and operations, which includes several nights of accommodation for staff and campers, it would be very difficult to maintain the current public health measures that are in place. and that, it is not likely that recreational camp programs regulated by the NS Recreational Camp Regulations will be able to proceed for the 2020 season. However, she also indicated that a final decision on re-opening summer camps will be made later in May or early June. So, at this point, it seems highly unlikely that we will be able to open and operate our Camp this coming summer. This is indeed sad news as all our staff was so looking forward to seeing all our campers again this summer at our new camp location. So once we receive the final decision from the Province, we will immediately let all our campers’ parents and guardians know what that final decision is and if there is any chance we can indeed open and operate later in August at our new camp location near Digby, NS. COVID-19 Update: The Province announced yesterday that the current emergency measures, including the need for social distancing, will continue until May 17th. All provincial parks and and private campgrounds are still under order to remain closed. And, we do not yet know whether the Province will permit summer overnight / stay-a-way camps to open and operate this coming summer.... So for the moment, we will hold off starting up our 2020 Camper Registration process until we know more. If it does turn out that the Province will allow summer camps to run and we are still in position to operate this coming summer, we will email our campers’ parents and guardians as soon as possible to let them know. At that time we will make a PDF of our 2020 CamperRegistration Package available. If we do operate this summer our Camp will be held later in August at a campground location just outside Digby Nova Scotia. Our next update will be posted the week of May 18th, after the Province provides their update to their current orders.
