Yes! Yes! Yes!! This is so important!
Check out this fun lesson on observing trees in winter.
It so important for our children to have access to play. My favourite kind of play is by far Messy play #playful
I am taking a conference this weekend based on children! I take what I like and believe in, and leave what I don’t like, in all my classes, conferences, workshops, and articles and books I read! I love learning about how to teach children!
Good morning everyone! I just went for a walk to the woods to see how the winds are. It is pretty windy, with a wind warning this afternoon. I am going to cancel adventures for this afternoon to air on the side of caution. We don’t want any dead branches falling on the children. Have a great afternoon!
Feeding the ducks corn and adding some sticks to the cool fort we found!
I am learning more on teaching children!
We found the cool fort! There was Halloween candy garbage in it so we picked it up to put in the garbage! Connor and one of the children made a bridge over the big hole in the fort!
The one child who made the earth for art today said I could have it! So sweet!
Embrace play in ALL seasons!
Making nature art, while we are out in nature! One child made the earth!
I normally wouldn’t post anything like this on here... but our friend Connor is wanting to do tutoring in math. I told him we can write a post here in case there is anyone needing it... you all are beginning to get to know Connor and most of the kids know him know too. He is just getting started, so I thought making a post here might help him to get started! If your child or if you know someone who would like tutoring pls feel free to message Connor, he will tutor elementary students and high school students! Thanks everyone!
What stories will your children pass down?
Art is very important!
Our first full week (Monday- Friday), went extremely well! If you are interested in signing your child up for fun and learning in the woods, please let us know! No better way to learn than in real life, running around and having fun! The children made alphabet soup, forged for flowers, watched and talked about the bees pollinating! They made books (told the teacher what to write if they couldn’t write it), they illiterated them and read them back to the teacher and were ...excited to read them to me! They also wrote in daily journals! They learned about the weather first hand and got to see and feel some hail, in a safe way! They climbed ran, jumped, counted nature, o e girl was even doing some adding! The children made some beautiful nature art with the beautiful coloured leaves that have fallen from the trees and talked about had summer has just ended and now it is fall! I can’t wait to plan with the teachers some fun Halloween activities in the woods for the children! Please let us know if you would like to sign your child or children up for half days 8:30-12:30 or 12:30-4:30 or full days 8:30-4:30! Thank you Kennedy Schnegg and Alyssa Isabel-Victoria for your hard work but mostly for your love and commitment to our children! See more
Kennedy is in the woods with the group this morning! I went to visit, they are so happy! They each made their own books, Kennedy helped them by writing the word they wanted. When I got there, they all grabbed their books to show me, they were so proud of them! They are all witches, so I was designated Daddy witch! Here are their books!
Foraged some flower soup for the ducks, read lots of stories, and made some art with the fall leaves!
Lots of fun today with these two! We made many soups, dabbled in some puzzling, and enjoyed some of the new fall scenery the forest has to offer.
Please don’t forget to nominate adventures in the woods!
They found a caterpillar! They treated it with respect and then gently put it back!
These two received their t-shirts today! Better late than never! They were awarded these today because they have been to 5 or more adventures (weekend adventures)!
Sisters watching the ducks together!
During today's adventure we found a bush of beautiful purple flowers! When we looked closer, we noticed several honey bees pollinating the flowers. The kids thought they were so cute and fluffy! We also discussed the importance of honey bees and how we need to protect them!
I bought straw bales this morning for the adventures kids! They sat in them for a story before they headed out this afternoon! We are making stories come to life with props and costumes! The children all got so excited over the story, near the end, they all ended up getting up and coming close to talk about what’s happening! This is what we want! We want the children to know that reading is fun! We want them To love it!
Our new outdoor in the woods learning through play starts tomorrow! You can schedule your child for half a day or full day! We still have spaces left this week! If you are homeschooling and your child needs out on a regular basis for social time, for fresh air and exercise, and some fun learning through play in the woods.... stories read and the children will also be acting out nursery rhymes in the woods, sometimes with little costumes! Please feel free to send us a message!
I just signed up for this, since my forest school practitioners course got postponed! http://www.erafans.org/Teacher-Certification
