Just outside of Yale, BC, you can find this gem. Alexandra Bridge was initially built as a wagon bridge in 1861, and named after Princess Alexandra of Wales. The bridge was rebuilt in 1863 due to the Cariboo road progressing, but was destroyed by flooding in 1894. In the 1920s, the province decided to reinvest money into the Fraser, and build the Cariboo highway. They finished the current bridge (pictured) in 1926, and it was open to motorized vehicles until 1964, when the ministry of highways built an updated bridge two kilometers downstream.
