Especially in these times....
Let the training begin! Great day on the water...getting ready for the opening of Adventuress Sea Kayaking.
These moon snail casings are always interesting to see on our tours. You think it is an old rubber piece of garbage but it is a casing holding thousands of eggs.
It is disturbing what has been happening to our sea stars. This is a great article to understand the nuances of sea stars.
Why I kayak and why I love to take out people kayaking...
Glorious day on the water... here we are December 4th paddling some of the Gulf Islands off the shores of Nanoose. How lucky am I to live on Vancouver Island!
Another perfect trip ... Adventuress Sea Kayaking's Gulf Islands Escape... 3 days of sunny weather, calm winds, and awesome people! So good that someone wants to do it again! So come join us paddling the Gulf Islands Sept 18-20th... last one of the season (small group, covid-safe guidelines in place). Contact Jan at [email protected] or 250.755.6702 for more details.
Wanting to have an epic adventure and needing to get some Nature therapy? We have seats left on our Johnstone Strait "Kayaking with the Orcas" trip August 10-13th. We leave for Port McNeil on Sunday... tour from Monday the 10th to the 13th. Give Jan a call at 250.755.6702 or email [email protected], mention you saw this on Adventuress Facebook and receive $200 off the tour price. It is a wild and wonderous place. Picture yourself here! We are a small group and have covid safe guidelines in place to ensure guests' and staff safety and comfort. Tick it off your bucket list and come join us.
What joy it is to take our guests out kayaking on the ocean... especially families. Here is a note I received back after our Sunset Paddle. "Sarah was very proud of herself for doing the paddle and felt a big sense of accomplishment so thank you very much for our fabulous evening which we all enjoyed immensely. You really made Sarah feel at ease." And thank you Dolllin family for coming out ... we hope to see you next year for our Gulf Islands Getaway!

Another gorgeous Sunset Paddle and a rainbow that looked like you could kayak to where it hit the land.... lookin' for that pot of gold :-). What a relaxing way to end the day.
New this year July 14-18! Come join us for Adventuress’ inaugural trip to the wild and wonderful Nuchatlitz Provincial Park, a remote Vancouver Island kayaking destination full of native culture and history, making it a unique BC kayaking destination. The traditional territory of the Nuchatlaht First Nation, these lands were inhabited for thousands of years before the arrival of the Spanish in 1774 and Captain James Cook in 1778. Nuchatlitz Provincial Park, on Nootka Island,... protects a number of archaeological sites. Just the name Nootka evokes images of ancient whales and warriors who plied the water around Nootka Island in canoes; of sheltered coves where early explorers anchored trading ships; of deep inlets carved into mountainous land. Today Nootka Island still maintains that frontier image. It’s a place where history and wilderness collide, creating a rich atmosphere where the echoes of life before European influence can still be felt. You will be whisked away by water taxi from Tahsis into the Park (and back) and see villages on the coast from long ago as we make our way to our camping destination. We will spend 4 days kayaking and camping in this wild destination. This is termed an intermediate kayaking destination, so if you are a beginner, we offer the Paddle Canada Certified Sea Kayaking Course for Beginners to incorporate some training before you go. Tahsis is welcoming visitors at this time and the Park is open for camping. Adventuress does have Covid-Safe protocols in place to ensure our guests’ and staff safety and comfort. To register please contact Jan at [email protected] and/or call 250.755.6702. We are only taking 6 guests for this tour, so don’t delay, come make a memory and join us for this once in a lifetime trip!!

We are so blessed to live on Vancouver Island and in BC and heck in Canada!! This is a time of switching our mindset, slowing down, pausing and seeing things differently. Take a read.. I think you will enjoy it... https://www.bcmarinetrails.org//2699-kayaking-in-the-time-

Adventuress is open for rentals for those with experience and our 2.5 hour Discover Kayaking lesson. We are keeping our groups small, practicing social distancing and making sure our gear and kayaks are safe for us to use. In June, we are offering tours and our Paddle Canada full day certified courses. Here is a solution to social distance while performing wet exits and rescues. Guess I need to get out there and try this!
We had such a safe, relaxing and fun time with Adventuress' Discover Kayaking lesson in Nanoose. These two ladies, who are room-mates, are on the front lines and were so grateful to be on the water as we watched harbour seals pop up nearby us, bald eagles soar and moon jellyfish (and even a fried egg jellyfish!) float by our kayaks. We took it slow and they revelled in the quiet and pure beauty of the snow capped Coast Mountains in the distance. Ahhh this is why I love what I do. Covid-safe guidelines in place to protect you and our staff. Thanks for coming out Lauren and Sarah!
Wouldn't this be fun! Get some good speed out there in our winds!

Well Ladies (Adventuresses!), I am not sure if we are going to get our all-women trips in this year, but I wanted to remind you who we are... We Are Women Who Paddle...xoxoxo
The ocean is waiting for us... won't be long and we will be able to go out paddling. In the meantime, remember Advice from the Ocean.
