Advocating Parents of Nova Scotia 20.11.2020

This is a plain language 10 point plan that taxpayers have already bought & paid for! Email it to your MLA so they can be reminded that it exists. Advocating Parents of Nova Scotia approves of this doc! So do all of the other advocates that helped write this fantastic plan. ( We didn’t have a hand in writing it )... #novascotia #halifax https://novascotia.ca//Choice_Equality_and_Good_Lives_in_I

Hello: I am writing with an update about the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal hearing next week (November 18 and 19, starting at 10 am). The hearing will be livestreamed and available for all to view: the link to the webcast can be found on the DRC’s Facebook post https://www.facebook.com/DisabilityRightsCoalitionNS... Because of restrictions associated with the pandemic, unfortunately attendance in person by the public will not be possible. Please feel free to share the DRC FB link widely, Claire McNeil

I’ve included some quotes below... saying the NS government warehouses people with disabilities but it’s ok... at least they fed them. Being jailed and your only crime was being born. Not acceptable This grosses us out!!!... "Each was confined, against almost all medical advice, for long periods of time in an acute-care unit of a psychiatric clinic awaiting a placement in some other care facility," he wrote. "One should also be mindful, I think, that the province has, at considerable cost, provided care to the complainants throughout their lives."
