#WayBackWednesday Riding in an old elevator is kind of like riding in a time capsule. What is the oldest elevator you've ridden or worked on?

#FunFactFriday The Elevador de Santa Justa in Lisbon is a 19th century industrial age marvel that transports passengers up 45m from the Baixa district to the Largo do Carmo. The exterior structure is adorned with glorious neo-gothic arches and geometric patterns, while inside two magnificent polished wood carriages whisk passengers up in style. ... The Elevador de Santa Justa was designed by Raul Mesnier de Ponsard, who was a student of the great iron craftsman Gustave Eiffel, whose best known for his masterpiece: the Eiffel Towel. The original elevator was powered by a giant steam engine (one of the first steam-powered lifts), but it was converted to a much safer and cleaner electrical motor in 1907, which still powers the lift today. Quite different from the typical elevators we ride in, but a beautiful piece of history. #ElevatorFacts

#FunFactFriday The biggest elevator in the world lifts giant ships! Created in China, the elevator was engineered as a solution to transports boats over the 600-foot tall Three Gorges Dam in China. The elevator itself weighs 15,500 tons and can carry ships up to 370 feet. The elevator takes only 40 minutes to transport the boat across the dam (ships previously had to use a long detour).... As the snow begins to fly, the ski hills are busy checking equipment and ensuring all of the equipment is ready for a new winter season. AEDARSA's SCO Rob Eeglon captured these great passenger ropeway pictures. The Strawberry Work Chair is how we access line equipment and towers to check safety switches and inspect sheaves and sheave assemblies. Divide is a photo of a sheave assembly with a CPS switch lowered for testing.... And the final image is an awesome shot of Strawberry. Are you ready for winter?

We love getting great feedback like this about our inspectors. One of our Inspectors, Tyler Colvin, recently did an inspection for Uppercut Elevators and Lifts and these were the wonderful words we received. "COVID at times has decimated our workforce, so we have had to move people from our residential installations to the commercial ones. This was the first inspection that one of my newer installers was responsible for. Tyler Kent has been with us for about 2 years but was... incredibly nervous and anxious about the inspection. He is more than capable but suffers from a lack of confidence, so this inspection was really important to his development. Tyler Colvin was the AEDARSA inspector and he picked up on his anxiety immediately. Tyler lightened the mood and used the inspection to enrich this installer by building him up rather than tearing him down. There were directives, but these resulted in teachable moments. There were a few mistakes made in the testing process, but Tyler empowered the installer to take his time, correct the errors, and move on. I want to thank Tyler for his diligence, compassion, and patience." Thank you so much to Uppercut Elevators for taking the time to pass along the kudos. #ElevatorInspections #ElevatorSafety #YYC #YEG

#FunFactFriday It's our favourite day of the week, not because the weekend is coming, but because we get to share a fun fact! In most countries, the expectation is that escalator users wishing to stand keep to one side and allow others to climb past them on the other. Germany, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States have been known as countries where riders are expected to stand on the right and walk on the left. However, in Australia and New Zealand, th...e opposite is the case. What kind of escalator etiquette do you follow? #EscalatorFacts
