Agnico Eagle Provides an Update on Results from its COVID-19 Testing Program for its Meadowbank Complex Agnico Eagle is providing the following update on recent results from its COVID-19 testing program for employees at its Meadowbank Complex, near Baker Lake, Nunavut. On November 20, 2020, an employee traveling northbound to the Meadowbank Complex near Baker Lake, Nunavut, and boarding from Mirabel, tested positive for COVID-19 at our testing facility in Val-d'Or, Quebec an...d was considered a presumptive case. The individual did not present any symptoms at the time of testing, however, the testing facility has the ability to detect the presence of the virus even if the person does not show any symptoms. In accordance with the Company's isolation protocols, the individual was isolated on site until being extracted on a special charter flight later in the day on November 20th. On November 23rd, the Company received confirmation from an accredited external laboratory that the individual had tested positive for COVID-19. Upon arriving at the mine site, employees from the November 20th northbound flight were immediately placed in isolation while a contact tracing exercise was conducted. The tracing exercise identified ten employees that may have been in contact with the individual. The Company's extraction protocol was activated, and protective measures were put in place to prevent potential contamination. The ten people identified as potential contacts remained in isolation at the mine site until being extracted from site on November 21st on a special charter flight. They have been instructed to follow the recommendations of their provincial health authorities and will be re-tested prior to returning to site. Due to the robustness of our safety measures such as the isolation protocol, the Chief Public Health Officer of Nunavut has authorized the release of all other employees that were on the northbound flight on November 20th. These employees were able to return to work as the risk is considered to be very low and they will be retested in the coming days as a preventive measure. Mandatory masks and hygiene protocols were followed by employees prior to boarding the flight, during the flight, as well as for the bus transfer to the mine site. The risk of transmission to the community of Baker Lake is very low. The mines implemented precautionary measures in March to isolate themselves from the community, including by having its Nunavummiut workers stay at home with 75% of their base salary to eliminate the potential risk of transmission of COVID-19 into the communities. The isolation of the Meadowbank Complex remains a priority, including during the transportation process of employees to site, in order to continue protecting the communities.

The Government of Nunavut is encouraging everyone to do their part to reduce the spread of COVID-19. As the infographic below shows, limiting our contacts is an important way to slow the spread. To do our part in preventing the spread of COVID-19, Agnico Eagle has implemented a no-contact policy between our operations and the communities.

Do you know the difference between self-monitoring and isolation? Take a look at the Government of Nunavut infographic below to find out which of the two may apply to you. As a reminder, the Government of Nunavut advises anyone who thinks they may have been exposed to COVID-19 to call the COVID hotline at 1-888-975-8601 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. EST, or notify their community health centre immediately before isolating at home for 14 days.

We regret to announce that due to the recently confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in the Kivalliq region, the planned mid-November visit from Senior Agnico Eagle Management team members has been cancelled. In addition, all upcoming Agnico Eagle community visits have been cancelled until further notice in order to protect community members. To help ensure the health and safety of everyone, all Good Deeds Brigade activities will be suspended until further notice, effective imm...ediately. As was previously announced, all our community offices will also be closed during this time. Agnico Eagle would like to update the community of Baker Lake on the fuel leak that occurred on September 22, 2020. As mentioned in our previous post, there was no impact on the environment since the fuel was contained within the containment berm, which is specifically designed to retain any potential leakage. Fuel Tank 5 was emptied and thoroughly inspected. The inspection showed that degradation happened in some of the components of the tank. The repairs to the tank were do...ne by a team of experts and were completed on October 6th. Extensive inspection and testing processes were conducted to ensure the tank’s repairs were effective. On October 7th, Fuel Tank 5 was declared ready to receive fuel. The fuel that was pumped out of Fuel Tank 5 to the vessel has now been pumped back into Fuel Tank 5. All normal operations have resumed at the fuel tank farm. As a preventive measure, an inspection strategy has been established for all fuel tanks to help prevent future leaks. We would like to acknowledge the cooperation of community members for respecting the no-contact policy during this time. Thank you for your understanding. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at [email protected] or toll-free at 1-844-323-3002.

Agnico Eagle would like to update the community of Baker Lake on the fuel leak that occurred at the Baker Lake Fuel Farm on September 22, 2020. As mentioned in our previous update, there was no environmental impact since the leaked fuel was contained in the containment berm. This berm is specifically designed to retain any potential leakage from the tank. The pumping of fuel out of the containment berm has been completed. The pumping work to empty Fuel Tank 5 is also complete...d, and all the fuel that was pumped from the tank was transferred to the vessel at the port. The next step is to continue the investigation and proceed with the appropriate corrective measures. Once the corrective measures are complete and we have confirmation of the tank’s integrity, the fuel that was transferred to the vessel will be pumped back into Fuel Tank 5, and the vessel will then be sent back south. A no-contact inspection from Crown-Indigenous Relations Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) will occur in the coming days. A specific protocol to ensure that no contact will occur between the CIRNAC employees and Agnico Eagle employees will be implemented to ensure the safety of all. We will keep the concerned authorities and the community of Baker Lake informed of the results of our investigation. To ensure the safety of all Baker Lake community members, all preventive measures that were developed to prevent a potential spread of COVID-19 will be respected. Agnico Eagle would like to inform the community of Baker Lake that during the routine inspection at the Baker Lake Fuel Farm a leak was found in the containment berm near the fuel tank 5. No impact on the environment was caused since the fuel is contained in the containment berm. This berm is specifically designed to retain any potential leakage from the tank. The event was reported to the regulators on September 22nd. For now, the quantity of fuel that has leaked is not dete...rmined, a working team is on their way to pump the fuel that is in the containment berm. An investigation in ongoing including a complete inspection of the tank to understand where the leak comes from. We will keep the concerns authorities and the community of Baker Lake informed of the results of our investigation. To ensure the safety of all the Baker Lake community members, all preventive measures that were developed to prevent a potential spread of COVID-19 will be respected. We ask your support to maintain the strict no-contact policy between Agnico Eagle workers and community members at the Baker Lake Fuel Farm. Good Deeds Brigade Agnico Eagles Nunavut Division kicked off a new pilot project, the Good Deeds Brigade. Although many safety measures are in place to avoid the risk of spreading COVID-19 to communities in the Kivalliq region, the companys Nunavummiut employees who nonetheless receive compensation have been unable to join us on site. Thanks to this new project, they will be able to get involved in different non-profit organizations and completing their work hours on l...ocal community projects. We believe that this project will contribute to the well-being of their communities by giving our employees the opportunity to increase their revenue and allowing them to contribute in a meaningful way that provides them the added satisfaction of lending a helping hand. This pilot project will see Agnico Eagle paying their employees base salaries while they work at an organization that helps and empowers members of the community. After a month, numerous projects have been implemented and the brigade has now expanded into four communities. Discussions to expand the Good Deeds Brigade are ongoing with our community partners. It is our hope that in the coming weeks, all seven communities of the Kivalliq region will see this project come to fruition. Information Bulletin COVID-19 | Confirmed Case at Meliadine On September 28th, an employee working at Meliadine who boarded the plane from Mirabel presumptivel...y tested positive for COVID-19 at our testing facility in Val-d’Or. On September 30th, Agnico Eagle received official notice from the local Public Health authorities confirming that this Meliadine employee has tested positive to COVID-19. As per the Company’s strict safety procedure, the employee was in isolation prior to receiving the initial results and was kept isolated until they returned home on a special charter on September 29th. The employee is now under the care their local Public Health Due to the robustness of our safety measures in place during transportation and on site, our Medical Director, in collaboration with the Government of Nunavut Public Health Office, have concluded that the risk of contagion is very low. The 15 people identified as having been in potential contact with the individual who tested positive to COVID-19 were safely extracted from site as a preventive measure on September 29th, 2020 on a separate charter flight. They have all tested negative to COVID-19, however, they will be tested again at our Val-d’Or or Mirabel testing facilities on October 2nd and prior to returning to site. Although all other employees who were on the northbound flight of September 28th were determined to be at a very low risk of contagion by our Medical Director and local health authorities, they will be tested again on October 1st and October 3rd as an additional preventive measure. This will ensure the incubation period has run its course which will allow for the detection of the virus, if present. In addition, the contact tracing exercise determined that Meadowbank Complex employees travelling from Mirabel on September 28th were never in contact with the individual who has tested positive for COVID-19. The Company continues to operate at the highest health and safety standards by going above and beyond the hygiene protocols provided by Public Health and medical experts to make sure everyone feels safe at the mine site. We want to assure you that the risk remains very low and many measures implemented are precautionary actions. Although we are entering the second wave of COVID-19, we are confident in the measures in place to ensure the safety of all. We are continuing to monitor the situation closely and our decisions are based on the latest available scientific knowledge on the virus. Considering the remote nature of our Nunavut operations, protocols are already in place to isolate, treat and transport employees requiring assistance. Our priority remains the safety of all employees and the surrounding communities.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, Agnico Eagle has implemented series of preventive measures at our Nunavut sites. In addition, the work rotation schedule was temporarily changed to a 28-28 schedule to reduce the number of passenger flights. The 28-day schedule is not a measure that we wish to impose on our workforce for longer than necessary, as we fully understand that it represents both a personal and a family sacrifice. As a result, we are planning on returning to a 14-14 ...rotation schedule by mid-June at Meliadine and approximately by the end of June at Meadowbank Complex. This schedule is more suitable for our workforce, as well as for summer activities such as sealift and construction work. In addition, Meadowbank Complex will begin ramping-up its operations and employees will return to work progressively in June. Agnico Eagle is grateful for the resilience and dedication that its workforce has shown during these uncertain times. We are confident that we can maintain this same level of safety standards with a return to a normal flight frequency. We want to assure everyone that all preventive measures implemented over the last months will be maintained until further notice to protect our workforce and the surrounding communities, including the use of masks and systematic testing of workers. Our Nunavummiut employees and contractors are valued members of our team and plans and protocols to safely reintegrate them to the sites are being developed in collaboration with the relevant authorities. Our exploration group is also planning to resume activities in Nunavut and protocols are in place to maintain the non-contact policy with the community. We are continuing to work with local authorities to ensure that our protocols allow us to meet our regulatory obligations in full transparency while protecting Nunavummiut. We understand that the situation has been a challenge for employees, and it has impacted their personal life and their families. We would like to take this opportunity to thank each one of our employees and contractors, for their dedication to work and to strive for the continuity of Agnico Eagle activities in Nunavut. For more information, visit our AEM Nunavut website at http://aemnunavut.ca/ for more details on our latest update on COVID-19.

MAINTAINING MELIADINE LAKE WATER QUALITY Agnico Eagles Meliadine mine is committed to protecting the aquatic environment of Meliadine Lake. We closely monitor ...all discharges into the lake and we work closely with the Nunavut Water Board to ensure that we meet the discharge limits permitted by Meliadines Water License. We want to advise you that we have requested and officially received an emergency amendment to our Water License for the 2020 discharge season. We requested this change in order to effectively manage the higher levels of water runoff Meliadine is experiencing from rain and snow melt, which have impacted both our 2019 and 2020 water discharge plans. The amendment will allow us to empty the mines holding or containment pond which contains water collected from rain and snow and ice melt in 2019, so that we can accept the upcoming spring melt of snow and ice (freshet) and properly discharge the accumulated water for 2020. This accumulated water will not have negative effects on the environment. This amendment protects not only the integrity of Meliadine Lake, it protects the integrity of our infrastructures by limiting the risk of flooding and thereby ensuring the safe operation of our facilities. During the discharge period between May and October, Agnico Eagle is committed to keeping the community informed on the progress of the discharge, the current water quality conditions in Meliadine Lake and to providing results from the monitoring of the water quality in Meliadine Lake during the discharge in 2020. Additionally, we are establishing a Water Management Working Group, which will include the appropriate team of experts, government and KIA representatives, to discuss the monitoring progress of the discharge from the containment pond. Ongoing analysis and monitoring will be conducted on Meliadine Lake to confirm that there are no effects on the receiving environment during and after the discharge. This amendment is essential and will ensure that water from Meliadine mine continues to be managed in a way that protects Meliadine Lake. We want to reassure the community that we are working in good faith throughout this situation and seeking the best outcome for Nunavut waters and the environment. For more information, please visit our website at: http://aemnunavut.ca/emergency_amendment/ If you have any questions, feel free to contact us via this email address [email protected], or call us toll-free at 1-844-323-3002.

To Baker Lake community members, Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some measure needed to be implemented to ensure the safety of all Nunavummiut regarding the use of the All-Weather Access Road (AWAR). Since the AWAR is sometimes used by Nunavummiut for numerous reasons such as the practice of traditional activities, the decision was made that an employee from Baker Lake will work at the gatehouse as a dispatcher. The gatehouse dispatcher monitors the flow of traffic and maintai...ns radio communication with the drivers on the AWAR. They must also record all entries and exits of All Terrain Vehicle onto the AWAR. The gatehouse dispatcher will not be in contact with on-site employees. Some specific measures will be implemented to ensure that the no-contact procedure is still maintained between on-site employees and community members. Look at the image below for important reminders. How to Safely Use the All-Weather Access Road (AWAR)? All Baker Lake residents that need to use the AWAR must report to the dispatcher; Only ATVs and snowmobiles are allowed on the AWAR; Speed limit is 50 km/h; The safety of everyone on the AWAR is the main priority. For any questions regarding the AWAR, visit our website at: http://aemnunavut.ca/community/roads/

Update on COVID-19 Testing As announced on April 5th, Agnico Eagle has implemented COVID-19 laboratory testing at its Nunavut operations to test our employees and contractors. The laboratory was successfully installed at Meliadine and testing began the week of April 6th. To date, we are pleased to report that all of our employees at our Meliadine mine and Meadowbank Complex (1,187 people) have tested negative for COVID-19. Rest assured that as part of our continuous efforts... towards the protection of our workforce and the surrounding communities, we will continue to test all workers arriving on site. It is important to note that this testing supplements all of the other measures that are also currently in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Physical distancing measures and many other preventative measures are applied as well in order to keep everyone safe. We are committed to protect our Agnico Eagle family, our communities, and our collective livelihoods during this pandemic. Our priority, especially in difficult times like these, is to foster the health and safety of our employees as well the communities in which we operate. We are proud to support various initiatives that are currently in place to help Kivalliq communities: In partnership with Kivalliq Hamlets, more than 450 food hampers were distributed to Kivallirmiut. Supplies were provided to the Hamlet of Rankin Inlet and Baker Lake to help support their pandemic plan, and to help build up ...their emergency response capacity.
