Are you familiar with the screening and testing process our employees and contractors go through before they are cleared to work on site? Take a look at the steps below:

AEM Meliadine 30.09.2020

Information Bulletin Agnico Eagle Provides an Update on Results from its COVID-19 Testing Program for Employees at its Meliadine Mine. Agnico Eagle reports that on November 17, 2020, an employee working at its Meliadine mine near Rankin Inlet, Nunavut tested positive for COVID-19. The result was confirmed by an accredited laboratory on November 18, 2020.... The individual boarded the northbound flight in Mirabel on November 17th and was tested at the Company's laboratory in Val-d'Or, Quebec. The individual did not present any symptoms, however, the testing facility has the ability to detect the presence of the virus even if the person does not show any symptoms. In accordance with the Company’s isolation protocols, the individual was isolated on site until being extracted on a special charter flight later in the day on November 17th. Upon arriving at the mine site, employees from the November 17th northbound flight were immediately placed in isolation in their rooms while a contact tracing exercise was conducted. The tracing exercise identified nine employees that may have been in contact with the individual. The Company's extraction protocol was activated, and protective measures were put in place to prevent potential contamination. The nine people identified as potential contacts remained in isolation at the mine site until being extracted from site on November 18th on a special charter flight. They have been instructed to follow the recommendations of their provincial health authorities and will be re-tested prior to returning to site. We are working closely with Nunavut's Office of the Chief Public Health Officer and we are following their recommendations. Mandatory masks and hygiene protocols were followed by employees prior to boarding the flight, during the flight, as well as for the bus transfer to the mine site. The risk of transmission to the community of Rankin Inlet is very low. The Meliadine mine implemented precautionary measures in March to isolate itself from the community, including by having its Nunavummiut workers stay at home with 75% of their base salary to eliminate the potential risk of transmission of COVID-19 into the communities. The isolation of the Meliadine mine remains a priority, including during the transportation of employees to site, in order to continue protecting the communities.

WEEKLY UPDATE ON CP1 DISCHARGE PROGRESS We want to inform the Rankin Inlet community that the discharge from CP1 collection pond has started on June 5, 2020. According to our internal sampling, the water being discharged is fully compliant with our amended water license. Second round of results were received from external laboratories, and they were shared on October 2nd. These results confirm that the discharge is fully compliant. The testing and monitoring process that are... implemented shows that the discharge is not causing harmful effects on the environment, fish and other aquatic life. The first testing results are available here: http://aemnunavut.ca/emergency_amendment/. We will communicate the new results when they are available. We are now at 44% of completion for this year’s discharge. To reduce the amount of water to be discharged to Meliadine Lake, we have started reusing CP1 water in our Process Plant facilities as part of our mining operations. Over the duration of July 8th to September 30th, CP1 water used in the Process Plant is calculated at 55,336 m3. We understand the importance of Meliadine Lake for Nunavummiut and we are committed to being transparent and to keeping our stakeholders informed as the process continues to evolve. This is why we are committed to keeping you updated on a weekly basis. The information will be shared on our Facebook page as well as on our website: http://aemnunavut.ca/emergency_amendment/ If you have any questions, feel free to contact us via this email address [email protected], or call us toll-free at 1-844-323-3002.

CP1 Testing Results Agnico Eagle would like to share the second part of our CP1 discharge testing results, which have been received from the external laboratories that conducted the analysis. From June 21 to August 30, the results showed that the TDS level in the water was in full compliance with our amended water license. The TDS level was well below the approved limit of 3,500 mg/L. The discharge is going as planned, and testing and continuous monitoring show that no harm...ful effects on the environment, fish and other aquatic life have occurred. Discharge volumes are lower than planned, as precipitation has been lower than average this year. We invite you to continue following us here, on our Facebook page, where we will be publishing further testing results as they are received. For more information on the CP1 discharge you can also visit our website at: http://aemnunavut.ca/emergency_amendment/. And, as always, if you have any questions please contact us via email at [email protected] or call us toll-free at 1-844-323-3002.

Information Bulletin COVID-19 | Confirmed Case at Meliadine On September 28th, an employee working at Meliadine who boarded the plane from Mirabel presumptively tested positive for COVID-19 at our testing facility in Val-d’Or. On September 30th, Agnico Eagle received official notice from the local Public Health authorities confirming that this Meliadine employee has tested positive to COVID-19. ... As per the Company’s strict safety procedure, the employee was in isolation prior to receiving the initial results and was kept isolated until they returned home on a special charter on September 29th. The employee is now under the care their local Public Health Due to the robustness of our safety measures in place during transportation and on site, our Medical Director, in collaboration with the Government of Nunavut Public Health Office, have concluded that the risk of contagion is very low. The 15 people identified as having been in potential contact with the individual who tested positive to COVID-19 were safely extracted from site as a preventive measure on September 29th, 2020 on a separate charter flight. They have all tested negative to COVID-19, however, they will be tested again at our Val-d’Or or Mirabel testing facilities on October 2nd and prior to returning to site. Although all other employees who were on the northbound flight of September 28th were determined to be at a very low risk of contagion by our Medical Director and local health authorities, they will be tested again on October 1st and October 3rd as an additional preventive measure. This will ensure the incubation period has run its course which will allow for the detection of the virus, if present. In addition, the contact tracing exercise determined that Meadowbank Complex employees travelling from Mirabel on September 28th were never in contact with the individual who has tested positive for COVID-19. The Company continues to operate at the highest health and safety standards by going above and beyond the hygiene protocols provided by Public Health and medical experts to make sure everyone feels safe at the mine site. We want to assure you that the risk remains very low and many measures implemented are precautionary actions. Although we are entering the second wave of COVID-19, we are confident in the measures in place to ensure the safety of all. We are continuing to monitor the situation closely and our decisions are based on the latest available scientific knowledge on the virus. Considering the remote nature of our Nunavut operations, protocols are already in place to isolate, treat and transport employees requiring assistance. Our priority remains the safety of all employees and the surrounding communities.

Update on the sampling TSS exceedance results at Melvin Bay Agnico Eagle would like to update the community of Rankin Inlet on the sampling results of the TSS exceedance. Shortly after resuming the discharge to on September 16th, the water analysis showed a TSS level for the discharge of September 16th had exceeded the regulatory limit. The discharge to sea was stopped immediately and the TSS exceedance was reported to the authorities.... The investigation showed that a procedural error occurred in the cleaning procedure of water truck from the last exceedance reported on August 31st. All the trucks that are used to transport the water to Itivia have been thoroughly inspected and cleaned out when necessary. The water quality is being tested daily from the treatment plant and remains in full compliance with regulations. We are still confident that the overall steps undertaken in understanding and correcting the exceedance are effective and under control. The mitigation measures that were implemented such as daily testing allowed us to identify the exceedance quickly and stopped the discharge. Agnico Eagle is committed to maintaining very close monitoring in Melvin Bay for the whole duration of the discharge.
