This may look like an ant to you but it is in fact a termite alate. It's soul purpose in life is to leave the colony, reproduce, and sustain its species. Termite alates don't bite, sting, or even eat wood. They swarm into the air from their "launch site" and take a brief flight, they land, break their wings from their bodies and pair with a mating partner. Presently we are in swarming season in Toronto and the GTA and as a result, Aetna is receiving calls from homeowners who are finding alates in their homes. Alates will fly to a light source and break their wings.
