Le White Belts (those who were able to make it). . . We salute all of our white belts who despite being new to the sport, gathered all the courage and stepped through our doors on their own. You’ve entered into an unknown territory where you’re subject to being the training dummy for blue belts. Expect that you will make mistakes at this stage. You’ll be known as the spazzy white belt (Coach Jack may or may not call you out on it too ) before you start to understand the co...ncepts behind the fundamentals of BJJ. Don’t expect to tap out a purple belt, instead focus on learning the four areas that Prof Andell has outlined: your ability to pass guard, play guard, hold a dominant position, and your ability to escape. You will fail multiple times before you have a win. Embrace the process as the process is what makes you mentally stronger and resilient on your path to blue. While most people will quit at Blue, you’ve now proved that you have what it takes to make it. You’ve earned the respect among your peers. This belt shows your passion and commitment to yourself, your game, your peers, your instructors, and your school. . . Your game will evolve and change at this stage. Don’t be afraid to experiment and innovate. Blue belts are there for a reason so feel free to grab one and see what works and what doesn’t as you prep for comps.
