It's Itchy Pet Awareness Month! There are many reasons your pet could be itchy, and a food allergy could be one of them. If your pet is on a veterinary approved flea preventative but is STILL itchy (how frustrating!) please contact our office today about getting them some relief! Common symptoms of food allergies could be excessive licking of the body - specifically around their bum and their paws, or ear infections, causing them to scratch their ears and shake their heads. Less common symptoms could be gastrointestinal upset - vomiting or diarrhea.

We wish everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving long weekend! In addition to the tips noted below, it is always a good idea to update your pet's identification and ensure all collars and tags are securely placed. Then if your pet escapes, they will make it home safe and sound!

Did you know Fall is the worst season for fleas?! The Fraser Valley does not typically get cold enough for long enough to kill fleas, so we recommend keeping your pet on prevention all year round. #ItchyPetAwarenessMonth

Hello everyone! Our hours have changed to try to accommodate our clients better :) We have started opening on Wednesdays between 9 am - 5 pm for non-doctor appointments, as well as food and product sales. Examples of non-doctor appointments are nail trims and anal gland expressions. All our COVID-19 protocols are still in place, we are still not permitting clients into the building and are only accepting non-cash forms of payment at this time. We hope everyone is staying safe!

**COVID-19 update** We have opened up to normal hours again. We will be open from 8 am - 5:30 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. We will still be closed Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and all statutory holidays. We have begun working our way through our surgical/procedural wait lists, if you believe you should be on the list please call our office to be added. We will be booking appointments based on current recommendations from the provincial board, so you may not b...e able to get an appointment immediately. We are remaining "curb-side" for the foreseeable future. If you have an appointment please bring your cell phone and contactless form of payment. Also ensure your pet is either in a secure carrier or on a leash. We would like to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation while we do our best to keep ourselves and our clients safe and healthy during this stressful time.

Using positive reinforcement to train your dog to allow nail trims is a great idea, but please don't put it anywhere on your body. Smearing it on the fridge or another smooth, easily cleaned surface to provide distraction is a great idea though. Having a second person to prevent your dog from nipping at you is also a really good idea. Do one nail at a time and if you're worried about using clippers, use an emery board.

**COVID-19 Update** We are changing our hours slightly due to staffing changes because of the pandemic. Starting this week we will be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 am to 4 pm, and will be closing from 12:30 - 1 pm for lunch. As always, any message left on our machines will be returned either that day or the next business day.
