A new report from Agassiz Harrison Community Services shows some of the many challenges local teens are facing, from bullying to a lack of after-school activities.

Needing help with Rent? The Fraser Valley Rent Assistance Program provides one-time emergency loans and grants for families and individuals who are at risk of losing their homes. Loans are provided to pay for security deposits, utility deposits, and arrears and rent, with a maximum loan repayment period of 24 months. Participants also have the opportunity to build knowledge and skills in effective money management. As well, FVRAP will do advocacy work with landlords and util...ity providers to avoid evictions or cutoff of services. The objectives are to: Secure stable housing or prevent eviction Avoid utility disconnection or re-connect utilities Build knowledge and skills in effective money management In order to be considered for a loan or grant, an applicant must: Permanently reside in Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack, Hope, Agassiz or Harrison Hot Springs Have 2 pieces of ID (one must be government-issued) Agree to a personal financial position assessment (full disclosure) Have a consistent source of income Unable to access any other form of government assistance for housing Be paying market rates (not subsidized) Have rental costs that do not exceed the ongoing ability to rent Not be more than one month in arrears Not have any other loans in process For more information, Email - [email protected] Call Jane at 604-851-7726 or Cindy at 604-302-1870 (for Chilliwack to Hope) https://mcccanada.ca/learn/more/fraser-valley-rent-bank
