We are so excited to announce that we are partnering with the Almonte Legion to present Catch the Ace Almonte. We launch Jan. 5, 2021. All net proceeds will fund the great programs presented by our local Legion and new equipments at the Hospital and Manor. Stay tuned for where to get your tickets when the web site goes live.
Very sad news in our region this morning. Amongst her many contributions, Councilor Fritz served on the board of the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation. Our thougths are with her family and our colleagues in Carleton Place.
Ann Lalonde and her sister Claire Zanetti, nominated Cathy Casey for the Angel pin award. They had met Cathy shortly after their Mom, Mary Lalonde moved to Fairview Manor approximately two years ago. From their first meeting, they were impressed by Cathy's kindness to Mom and by the dedication, she showed to the residents of Fairview Manor. Cathy is unfailingly cheerful and devoted to all of her clients. 2020 brought many challenges to the staff of Fairview and with the volun...teers no longer able to help, Cathy now goes to bring her clients to the salon and take on many other tasks that she had not performed under the usual routine. Cathy did all of these things with outstanding professionalism and a smile on her face. She went above and beyond her role by providing hairdressing to all of the Moms on Mother's Day and by being a constant in a sea of masked and changing faces. We are so grateful that Ann and Claire were able to be here to present Cathy with this award on Dec 18 amidst colleagues and friends. from left to right: Karen Buness, FVM Director of Care, Ann Lalonde, Cathy Casey, Claire Zanetti and Mary Wilson Trider, President/CEO See more
Mr. Lionel Easton proudly presented Amanda Rice with a Guardian Angel Pin. Amanda is a Registered Nurse who cares for patients at the Ottawa Valley Family Health Team. A Guardian Angel Pin is presented to physicians, staff, and volunteers who have gone above and beyond to help care for our patients and residents or someone who has made extra efforts through their work and deserves a Thank you! Lionel and Amanda had never met in person but have had several virtual appointments.... Mr. Easton says that Amanda is really nice and compassionate and he really appreciates having the opportunity to speak to her. Amanda has been a tremendous help to Lionel. New Pediatrician Provides Extra Support for Family Physicians and Families Dr. Cara Walker is all about families both her own and those she cares for in her pediatric practice based in Almonte at the Ottawa Valley Family Health Team. I have my husband, Kyle, to thank for bringing me here, she says. He joined the team earlier this year and loves working with staff at both Almonte General Hospital and Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital. Dr. Kyle Walker is a Rhe...umatologist and offers clinics at both hospitals. In her new practice, Dr. Walker provides specialized services to families in our region. She will work with family physicians to provide extra support and input for challenges such as behavioural concerns, learning disabilities, or medical issues where a second opinion may be helpful. It’s wonderful. I look forward to coming to work every day because it’s a pleasure to work with families, she says. As a Mom myself, I know what it’s like to constantly question yourself about whether or not you are doing the best thing for your child. Having a child with a medical or behavioural issue is extremely challenging as a parent. I’m happy to provide extra support and diagnostic clarity for families. Dr. Walker completed her medical degree in Ireland and her pediatric specialization at the University of Ottawa. Her previous placement at CHEO has given her a wide range of experience, as well as close contact with Pediatric Sub-specialists. Pediatrics was never a question for me, she remembers. I love it for so many reasons, including that I get laugh, smile and play with my patients every day. Dr. Walker is at the OVFHT two days a week. She also provides virtual consultations. A referral from a family physician is required. Welcome Dr. Walker!
