When I stepped to the line at the 2009 Agility World Championships with my sheltie Dice, I was terrified. Just moments before she had completely FROZE in front of the warm up jump, and I had no idea if she was going to be able to run on front of a crowd of thousands of people. If she froze again, this had the potential to be the biggest failure in Canadian World Team history. We had come so far, despite many people telling me that we couldnt do it, that she just wasnt cut out to be an agility dog. Our agility training journey felt like climbing a mountain as I wandered down the wrong paths in search of techniques that REALLY worked. But then, I found the key that everything changed! As I heard the announcer call our names I knew this was the moment when I found out just how much of a transformation wed made. Well, we didnt win the World Championships that year, but my fearful, noise sensitive little dog managed to post one of the fastest times in the competition!
