Is Canada making the right decision when the continued emphasis is on expanding LTC beds? Denmark has better options as do other countries. Is now the time for Canada to enlighten its thinking and look for alternatives? Long term care is not the best option in my opinion! We can do better!!

One third (1/3) of people over 65 fall once or more a year. Most of these falls occur at home while doing regular activities. The main reason older adults fall is due to a loss of balance.

An absolutely brilliant idea from Australia, using moulds to serve pureed menu items to residents who cannot eat solid food. How much more appealing would this be to sit down to!!

With a loved one in long term care so many families around the world are finding this the sad new reality
Today is World Health Day as well as Nationaal Caregiver Day. We sent this message out to our valued caregivers who continue to service our more vulnerable clients. I woud like to share this with all caregivers who continue to visit and support the more vulnerable in our commumites during this unprecedented time. Good morning! This morning in his daily brief Prime Minister Trudeau reminded all Canadians that today is not only World Health Care Day but also National Caregive...r Day. In the words of our Prime Minister, "(I) am especially grateful for our health care professionals and caregivers who are working day and night to keep us safe to care for our most vulnerable. Thank you for taking such good care of us. Rebecca and I would like to echo Prime Minister Trudeau’s words. We are extremely grateful to each of you for your unwavering dedication to the clients you continue to visit. I speak with 100% certainty that those clients and their families feel exactly as we do and express the same sentiments as our Prime Minister. Mr. Rogers, a household icon for many of our children, was brilliant in his awareness and simplicity in sharing his thoughts on how to make the world a kinder place. This is one of his more famous quotes: "We live in a world where we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say, 'It’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem. Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider these people my heroes. Well, you are our heroes!! Words cannot adequately convey how absolutely grateful Rebecca and I are to have each one of you on our team at this critical time! From the bottom of our heart THANK YOU!! A final quote from Mr. Rogers: "If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person." Take care; stay safe; stay healthy!!
