York Care Centre & Foundation participants are actively using the 2RaceWithMe! Last month, 10 participants traveled an average of 41 km per week. After a participant consents to partake in our study, we randomize the participant by assigning them to either the control group (without VR) or the experimental group (with VR) using a computer program. Randomization gives each participant an equal 50% chance of being in either group, making this study a fully randomized controlled trial! The CANImmunize platform has rapidly evolved since we started preparing for our research study with them. You can now easily input your COVID-19 immunizations into the app or upload your paper record and have it readily available. #Vaccines #COVID19 #AgingResearch #CIRA #NewBrunswick

Did you know? Since CIRA’s incorporation in the spring of 2018, we have received several research funding grants and have fostered research collaborations with stakeholders, researchers, and academics from across Canada. We are proud to be Atlantic Canada’s only research centre housed within a long-term care facility! #NewBrunswick #AgingResearch #LongTermCare #CIRA

The purpose of our study is to imbed deprescribing into NB Nursing Homes using MedReviewRx and to evaluate user experience with the app. We expect that using this app will promote deprescribing in nursing homes and reduce the prevalence of potentially inappropriate medications. 2RaceWithMe (Centivizer) is an exciting way to promote physical activity and see the world! While exercising with hand or foot pedals (or both), residents can navigate videos from a library of 100 videos, including cities and towns in New Brunswick, Western Canada, the United States, and Italy. #Research #AgingResearch #PhysicalActivity #LongTermCare Here’s a few statistics from last week:

Our Virtual Reality for Rehab project is working in collaboration with Bruyère to improve strength, stamina, balance, cardiovascular fitness, and confidence in seniors. With regular exercise, we aim to help seniors maintain (or improve) their functional ability, independence, and quality of life. #Research #AgingResearch #LongTermCare #NewBrunswick #Fredericton #NBresearch #Jintronix #SeniorsRehab
