When you pray to Buddha, are you praying with the spirit of dedication? Many people pray because they want something in return. Buddha may extend his hand at first. But, if you don’t cultivate merit (positive karma) then soon, your positive karma will run dry.... We can cultivate infinite merit by devoting to the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. You can practice dedication at home. One is the Six Offerings.This is offering food, water, candle light, flowers, and incense to the Buddha at your home altar. The second is daily devotional prayer. If you have a Buddha stupa at home, it becomes a sacred jewel that radiates brilliant light in all directions when you pray daily, with devotion. However, if neglected, it becomes nothing more than a mere object. Outside of the home, you can practice dedication by offering your time and ctions to support the Three Jewels (Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha). Kancho Geika, our holy teacher, dedicated his life to serving the Buddha. He gave 100% of himself to the dharma, and this is why he was able to receive 100% of Buddha's divine guidance and help.
