It was good to be back at the Carriage House last Saturday for the PEI Genealogy Society meeting.

On this day in 1868 - two Island communities came together as one. At a public meeting, residents of Sconser and County Line voted to rename their area "Caledon...ia" - the same name the Romans had given to Scotland. The change came as no surprise as Scottish immigrants first began settling the area in the early 1800s. The old Caledonia Presbyterian church even held some services in Gaelic until the 1930s!
