Today, as Canada marks the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, let's pause to listen to Survivors' stories, reflect on how we've arrived where we are, and envision what we as individuals and institutions can do to travel the path of reconciliation together in compassion, respect, and justice. #NDTR
Happy Friday! After careful thought, I've decided some classes will be offered in person starting Tuesday, September 28, in accordance with Alberta's Restrictions Exemption Program. ***If you would like to practice with us in person, please visit http://ahimsa-yoga.ca/in-person-classes/ before class for important information on what you'll need to bring with you.*** I understand these new requirements mean that not everyone will be able to attend in person, but rest assured... that all the weekly drop-in classes will continue to be simultaneously live-streamed on Zoom. For the up-to-date class schedule, click here: http://ahimsa-yoga.ca/drop-in-classes/ And if you have any questions or concerns or need support during this transition, please feel welcome to reach out via e-mail, phone, text, or Facebook. I look forward to welcoming you back safely to the United Church starting next Tuesday!
September is a great time to try a new activity! Yoga for Beginners starts next Wednesday, September 29, online (with the possibility of an in-person option too). Have fun in these relaxed classes designed for every age, body, and level of ability while you learn the fundamentals of yoga postures and breathwork from a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher. Classes run on Wednesdays, September 29 to November 3, 7:00-8:30 p.m. Registration is $110, and the last day to register is Sunday, September 26. You can find more info at http://ahimsa-yoga.ca/registered-courses/, and text/phone 780.678.6063 to learn more or sign up.
Heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended or donated to Saturday's #TryLikeTerry Yoga in support of The Terry Fox Foundation! Not only did we enjoy a sunny outdoor yoga practice, but most importantly together we raised $670 for cancer research! Special thanks go to Anne McIntosh, Terry Fox Run organizer, for her enthusiasm and hands-on help, and to Jessica Suzanski and Augustana Library for their generous loans of power and sound equipment.
Given yesterday's announcement of new provincial Covid-19 restrictions and the rising number of cases in our city and province, Ahimsa Yoga with Deanna's drop-in classes are moving online starting tomorrow, Friday, September 17. The class schedule remains the same, and Zoom codes are also unchanged. If you'd like to join any of the weekly classes online and need the Zoom code, simply e-mail [email protected], or phone/text 780.678.6063. With outdoor activities still permitted, #TryLikeTerry Yoga in support of The Terry Fox Foundation will go ahead as planned this Saturday, 10-11 A.M., in Jubilee Park. Social distancing will be in effect throughout the event. Thank you for your support as we once more make these changes for the good of everyone.
3 more sleeps until #TryLikeTerry Yoga in support of The Terry Fox Foundation! All abilities, ages, and fitness levels are welcome, and 100% of donations go directly to the Foundation's support for cancer research. Invite your family and friends, and join us this Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. in Jubilee Park!
The Fall schedule is now online at http://ahimsa-yoga.ca/drop-in-classes/! Starting tomorrow, another in-person class is added to the schedule: Friday All-Levels, 9:00-10:15 a.m. In accordance with provincial regulations, masks are required while moving through the building but can be removed once you're on your mat. See you bright and early tomorrow morning!
Happy Labour Day long weekend! Just a reminder there is no class this Saturday, September 4. Classes resume Tuesday, September 7, and, starting Tuesday, masks will be required for in-person classes in adherence with the new province-wide guidelines. Have a safe and happy long weekend, everyone!

P.S.--Tomorrow's 55+ class (10:00-11:15 a.m.) will continue as usual, both in person and online.
A slight change to the drop-in class schedule: Friday morning All-Levels will be offered online only for the rest of July and August. With several classes offered in person--including 55+, Lunchtime, and Yoga in the Park--and online, Ahimsa Yoga is ensuring you can maintain your yoga practice wherever this summer takes you! The most up-to-date schedule is always available at http://ahimsa-yoga.ca/drop-in-classes/
In these chilly days, what could be better than curling up with a warm mug, a cozy blanket, and a good book? Please see the poster for more details on how to reserve your spot.

This morning's fundraising class for the Camrose Food Bank was a beautiful way to mark the holiday season. Thank you to everyone who contributed so generously: together, we collected $355 and a big box of non-perishables for the Food Bank! Classes have now ended for 2020 and will resume on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. Wishing everyone a peace-filled holiday season and an inspired start to your New Year.

While Alberta's new targeted public health measures do affect Camrose, our city is exempt from the ban on indoor group fitness classes. (You can find more details at https://www.facebook.com/CityOfCamrose.) In-person yoga classes will continue to take place, but, if you feel more comfortable attending virtually, please keep in mind that all in-person classes are also streamed on Zoom. See you--either in-person or online--tomorrow morning at 9!
Do you enjoy poetry & yoga? Then you're invited to join the Victorian Literature & Yoga Book Club's December meeting. We've chosen 3 short poems by a group of well-known 19th-century English poets: Matthew Arnold; Robert Browning; and Alfred, Lord Tennyson. And, as always, we'll practice an hour of gentle yoga together after the conversation. Please see the poster for more details and to RSVP. See you there!
Just a reminder that class is cancelled tomorrow, Wednesday, November 11, to mark Remembrance Day. See you at All-Levels on Friday morning at 9:00 a.m.!

Good morning, everyone! As you may have heard, group fitness classes will not be permitted under the enhanced restrictions the Government of Alberta announced yesterday. The new guidelines go into effect on Friday, but, in an effort to keep everyone as safe as possible, all of Ahimsa Yoga's drop-in classes and workshops are switching to an online format starting today, Wednesday, November 25. (This change includes the Victorian Literature & Yoga Book Club and Heighten... Your Practice registered course.) The drop-in class schedule posted at http://ahimsa-yoga.ca/drop-in-classes-2/ remains the same, and the Zoom codes you've been using to attend online classes are also the same. If you have any questions or would like to receive Zoom codes for any of the drop-in classes, please reach out by e-mail to [email protected] or phone/text 780.678.6063. Stay well and safe, and I look forward to seeing you online in the days to come!
Thanks to everyone who came out in person today wearing a mask, in accordance with Camrose's new Mandatory Face Covering Bylaw. The bylaw does not require you to wear a mask while "actively engaging in athletic or fitness activities" (www.camrose.ca/masks)--though you may choose to practice yoga with a mask if it feels safe and comfortable for you--but a mask is required when entering or leaving the church building or when using any facilities within the building. Drop-in classes continue this week both in-person and online, and Ahimsa Yoga and the United Church are committed to maintaining all Alberta Health Services protocols for sanitization and physical distancing. Let's work together to stay healthy and safe!
The Victorian Literature & Yoga Book Club has chosen a book and a date for our November meeting! You're cordially invited to join us on Wednesday, November 25, from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. for a conversation and yoga practice centred on Charlotte Bronte's first novel The Professor. Please pre-register to [email protected] or 780.678.6063 to reserve your space.
