Published by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, the new document includes the work of over 45 experts, guided by the architects of an Editorial Board assembled from across Canada. For practicing architects, those working to become architects, and others who engage with the architectural profession, the Handbook is an essential instructional resource and reference manual.

As of November 26, 2020, the AIBC is officially part of the Ministry of Attorney General. This was announced in a letter from the Office of the Superintendent of Professional Governance. Each summer, the AIBC hosts Architectural Walking Tours of neighbourhoods in Vancouver and Victoria. This year, the walking tours season has been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns. The health and safety of participants, guides, and all those involved with the tours is of utmost importance. In 1971, Vancouver’s Gastown became a designated heritage area in order to better protect the district's historic buildings. Throughout the 70s, historical elements were also added to the neighbourhood, such as the steam clock, ornate street lamps, and red brick paving. The CP Telecommunications Building was built in 1969, and is one of only two structures that came out of Project 200. This waterfront redevelopment program was introduced in 1966, and included the construction of modernist concrete buildings and a freeway.
