Let's celebrate a victory for common sense, and the needs of Regina citizens, and credit where credit is due to the current municipal government. Let's hope this is a first step, and not a final step in improving the safety and convenience of Regina's transportation system
I've been invited to speak at this rally. I encourage you all to come!
I have refrained from posting on this page very often since I am not serving the public in any official capacity right now, but I must voice my disgust at the defeat of a motion last night in City Council to oppose the provincial bill 40 and protect our crowns. A council whose members rightly referred to the provincial budget as "coming like a thief in the night" had a chance to send a loud and clear message to the government, but chose to keep their heads down and not stand up for the citizens of Regina. I want to thank my friend councillor Stevens for bringing the motion forward, and the councillors who voted in favour, including my former opponent Jason Mancinelli. This is one of those motions I hope voters look back on next election and remember how their councillors voted.
Great idea from a friend of mine: "wouldn't it be nice if the City of Regina had an app for gps-tagging pot holes, full garbage cans, and dead animals or other hazards so the City workers can be efficiently directed to where they are needed."
I may not have been elected, but I am definitely willing to take up the challenge!
If you're wondering what I've been up to recently, here's something: http://www.cbc.ca//regina-rally-u-s-muslim-travel-ban-1.39
Look forward to working with Trent and Trevor and the rest of the Regina Rosemont executive as vice president!
Tragic news about another public figure. My condolences to the friends and family of the deceased. http://globalnews.ca//saskatchewan-party-mla-roger-parent/

Follow up to what I posted a few months ago, but the city continues to punish ethical business practice in the wake of establishments being taken to court for serving a drunk driver
Feel welcome to "share" this! If anyone doesn't like what's happening with their property taxes they should send a letter or better yet phone the office of Donn...a Harpauer, Minister of Government Relations (municipal relations fall under her ministry). She's probably hoping people will just call the City of Regina to complain about this, but this mess happened under the ministry she's in charge of. The cuts under her ministry to grants in lieu to municipalities lead to Regina raising taxes to make up the shortfall. seven months on, citizens of Regina are still being punished for doing the right thing, and paying the price for the poor financial decisions made at all levels of government. Glad to see these issues haven't been forgotten.
