"Winter is white The Prairies are flat We're sending you a gift 'Cus we're elves, we do that."... Did you know that all our gifts donated by Fondation Les P'tits Lutins / The Little Elves Foundation come with little tags on each gift? Every year we look forward to the gifts they send for our clients. Knowing that someone somewhere cares enough to take the time to arrange for them to receive a present means the world to our clients. Especially when the gift is a really warm pair of gloves and a set of hand warmers, which we all need during the winter here on the prairies Stay tuned for our "Leftover Christmas" happening in 2021!

We light a candle today, on Transgender Day of Remembrance, to honour the memory of transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence, as well as those who have taken their own lives due to this violence. It's also a day to reflect on the transphobia that led to the deaths of those people.

Today's #ThankfulThursday goes out to our Nursing Practicum Students who organized a clothing drive for our clients. This time of year is hard for everyone and it can be even harder when you do not have access to a warm coat. Our students took it upon themselves to ensure none of our clients will go cold this season. If you are in need of Winter gear, stop by our office at 1325 Albert Street today from 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM and we will set you up to withstand the cold!

Leave it to our friends over at Sesame Street to make sure our future generations are apart of the solution for substance use... and also to make the current generation cry over from the support and love demonstrated... #imnotcryingyourcrying

#HIV #History Thanks to everyone who answered our Knowledge Check on Friday! Our question: What is the international symbol for AIDS awareness? The answer: Red Ribbon... In 1991, a group of artists came together to create a meaningful symbol at the height of the AIDS crisisto show support and compassion for those with AIDS and their caregivers. These artists were a part of the Visual AIDS Artists' Caucus and what they created was titled "The Ribbon Project", better known today simply as the Red Ribbon. Fun Facts: The colour red was chosen for its "connection to blood and the idea of passionnot only anger but love..." The ribbon format was selected in part because it was easy to recreate and wear. The original instructions were to "cut the red ribbon in 6-inch length, then fold at the top into an inverted 'V' shape. Use a safety pin to attach to clothing." The Red Ribbon was the first "awareness" ribbon, later followed by many other colours and causes.
