Following the shredding of some material, at 7:27 AM on April 13, 2021, the noise that was heard from the AIM Recycling Atlantic Plant was from a contained burst, no combustion, with a reportable impulse sound level reading of 106dba LAFmax. AIM reassures you that the equipment is designed to withstand these bursts of pressure and that these contained bursts are neither a threat to the safety of the public nor to structures. After multiple constructive discussions with the DELG, we resumed operations yesterday at 11 AM. We are taking the initiative to mitigate any potential risks of bursts by improving the existing preventive measures that were already in place. In the past few days, we established a very good working relationship with the DELG and will be collaborating closely in educating the suppliers we work with to make sure that the material entering our yard is clean. If you have any inqu...iries, please reach out to us at [email protected] Thank you

Following the incident that occurred on September 24th at our Port of Saint John installation, health officials have concluded that there were no explosions and that no workers were exposed to toxic environments. It has been determined that the cause of the fire was an undetected nonferrous chunk of material that overheated. AIM is taking the situation seriously and with a view to prevention, is currently reviewing which technological changes can practically be made to prevent this from happening again.
We wish to inform you that a fire occurred at our Port of Saint John facility late last night. The fire was quickly contained and controlled and there are no injuries. At this time, the cause of the fire remains unknown. AIM is cooperating with the fire department and local authorities to determine the exact cause of the blaze. For any questions, please contact Michael Cormier, General Manager, 506-672-4000 x 6006
