Save the date. We’ve started planning for spring break and will be offering an exciting opportunity for cadets known as the Cadet Activity Program, or CAP for ...short, in spring 2021. CAP will be five days of exciting activities beyond what is offered at the local corps/squadron close to home with no overnight component while following all public health measures. Local staff and staff cadets will be needed to supervise and deliver this training, so mark your calendars and get ready for a week of fun close to home! Stay tuned for more information coming soon!
Congratulations to Sgt Connellan and Sgt Currah who participated in the Zone Effective Speaking competition during the 2019-2020 training year. They were the winners of the Squadron competition and received pins and certificates for their achievements. Bravo Zulu! Resources for the Effective Speaking Program are provided through the Air Cadet League of Canada, and Alberta Provincial Committee and were further supported by our local Squadron Sponsoring Committee. Mrs. Neuba...uer volunteered her time to work with cadets in the Squadron to prepare for competition. Thank you Mrs. Neubauer! The Aims of the Effective Speaking Program are: To provide an opportunity for Air Cadets to increase their self confidence; and increase their ability to reason, organize and express ideas; To promote the citizenship component of local squadron training; To provide a focus at the Local, Regional/Wing, Provincial/Territorial, and National levels, to promote and encourage Air Cadets to participate in an optional activity that will provide them with an opportunity to acquire effective speaking skills through instruction and practice in a structured and competitive environment; and To increase public awareness regarding the citizenship and leadership aspects of the Air Cadet program at the national, provincial and local levels. In the Air Cadet program, we use words such as leadership, teamwork, self-discipline, self-confidence, good citizenship. Cadets who participate in the effective speaking program will learn all of these things. The skills they learn here will help them immeasurably in other areas of their life as well, whether they are making class presentations in secondary school, or later, interviewing for admission to professional faculties at universities, making presentations to colleagues at work, leading volunteer organizations, or running for public office.
Congratulations to Cpl Pareek, who received the 2019-2020 Cadet Recruit Proficiency Award. The award is presented to the cadet who has shown the highest interest and dedication to the Air Cadet Program, plus applied and demonstrated the skills and qualities taught to a new recruit. Bravo Zulu!
Although Cadets and Officers are not authorized to attend commemorations in person this year, there are still virtual ways to participate in this important day.
We continue to recognize our cadets who received awards for the 2019/2020 Training year....Congratulations to Sgt Judge on receiving the cadet Fundraiser Crusader Award. This award is presented to the cadet who has been supportive of the Squadron's fundraising efforts - criteria for the award considers family involvement, participation, and fundraising results. The cadet individually raised the most funds throughout the main fundraisers for the year. Bravo Zulu!
Congratulations to WO2 Reiling who received the Senior Cadet Proficiency Award for the 2019/2020 training year. The award is given to the cadet who has demonstrated strong leadership skills at a senior level in the squadron, accepted and performed well in the performance of their duties as a senior cadet in the squadron, and who has served as a strong role model for the more junior cadets. Bravo Zulu!
We were pleased to see Sgt Judge presented with the Junior Cadet Proficiency Award for the 2019-2020 training year. The award is given to a cadet who has demonstrated strong leadership skills, dedication to their studies, acceptance and performance of the duties assigned within the squadron. They also show promise as emerging leaders within the squadron. Bravo Zulu!
#15 RCACS was proud to recognize Sgt McFadyen and FCpl Connellan as the Best Dressed Cadets for the 2019/2020 training year. The awards were presented to the 2 cadets who diligently put effort into the maintenance of their uniform to ensure they were consistently dressed in a manner befitting an Air Cadet. They were role models to other cadets and set a high standard for other cadets in the program.
Good day all. ** Cadets tonight has been cancelled ** I wanted to give as much time as possible for the roads to clear before making a determination if tonight's activities would still go ahead. After returning from a trip around town, I see that the conditions are not improving fast enough to warrant having cadets and parents travel.... We hope that you all remain warm and well at home this evening. Capt Bautista will engage with the senior cadets vitually. [Capt D]
