Aird Flavelle 15.11.2020

This morning we were waving at people on Sumas Way. My idea of trying to do "Development with a Heart" seems to hit a chord with lots of folks. Over the years at #Abbotsford Council meetings I've seen so many unhappy residents. We can do better.

Sheila and I were on Gladys this morning. Waving signs is one of the cheerier parts of campaigning!

Four days to go to the election and I don't see a single other candidate for #Abbotsford City Councillor at tonight's meeting.

Don’t forget about Aird Flavelle when you vote for City Councillors..... we need Development that is sustainable but also reflects the community standards of caring and compassion held so deeply by Abbotsford residents -found to be the most generous and charitable in Canada!

Widening Highway 1 Meghann Coughlan Hernández to Aird Flavelle: Why do you disagree that Highway 1 should be widened at Abbotsford?... -------------------------------------- Aird Flavelle Hey Meghann! I hate Highway 1 to Vancouver the stupid thing is becoming unusable. In 1989 I would allow 45 minutes for my weekly trips into Vancouver. Now, if I had a critical appointment, I wouldn't dream of allocating less than 2 hours. Last Saturday afternoon I needed to go in to North Vancouver. I got as far as 268th street, where traffic was at a dead stop. I turned around and came home when AM730 traffic radio reported: There was congestion through 200th street the Port Mann bridge had a stall on it there was a police-incident down near Brunette something else was stalling traffic at Galardi there was truck with a flat tire on the Iron-Workers Memorial traffic was congested going up the hill north of the bridge. (all of that is from memory, but it was something similar) Widening Hwy 1 from Langley to Abbotsford wouldn't have made any difference to my trip. Indeed, that idea is proven out when we look at the major U.S. cities that have tried to eliminate road congestion by building more lanes and roads. They just fill up.
