This was my daughter being comforted and cared for while she was getting a tooth extraction. I've been to numerous dentist offices in our ten years here in Airdrie and it's the people that make the difference. Camelia Parsa the dentist/owner of Yankee Valley Dental is one of the gentlest and compassionate humans I've met, she hires for attitude and competency and it shows. Dr Parsa was the only dentist that suggested I get Botox for my clenching issue rather than a night guar...d that I knew I wouldn't use. When she explained why and then suggested a couple local places that offer services I got that her priority was me and my comfort. I will always have a special place in my heart for her and her crew for the care they've provided my family. I recently visited Funky Petals Airdrie to find an arrangement for my friend and her family and I ran into Tania. After a 45 minute chat I bought this beautiful arrangement and I was struck by how starved I am for adult conversation. Not chit-chat about the weather, but how are you really doing, talks. As an effort to save my sanity I left kids at home to run this simple errand, I was "my peopled out", I needed new people for just a moment. I'm so grateful to have run in to T...ania, while we couldn't hug and our masks created some extra pardon me's the dose of humanity and creative beauty I found in the flower shop was just what I needed. I'm sharing for this month all the things I love and today I love Tania and the thoughtfully named flower arrangements. Back but not back back

We got to take this family picture at dusk yesterday on our first leg of trip from Ontario to Winnipeg. Today I did a load of laundry and got the snacks and food needed for tomorrow's final leg, Winnipeg to Airdrie in one long 14 hour shot. Our lake time was absolutely amazing, cousins all tubing, wakeboarding, dock diving and eating an astronomical amount of food to satiate their growing bodies. We've enjoyed this family time every summer since they've been born and it's a sad finale of goodbyes and thoughts of what we will do to get together again sooner than later, we are grateful more than ever that it was possible this summer. #artofenough #communityconnector

At the cabin live!

Happy Canada Day! I'm driving across Canada as I post this so my appreciation for our beautiful country is high right now. We left Airdrie this morning and we're making our annual trek to our family cabin. The final leg of this trip is a boat ride to the island the cabin is located on. I will get connected with the circadian rhythm I suppress to extend my task executing day well into the night. I will put down my phone, pick up my pen and write. I will play with my children a...nd soak up this precious time. The eagles will fish in the bay for us to watch, the summer storm weather will undoubtedly orchestrate a sticatto light show for our viewing pleasure as well. The lonely loon call will echo across the water with the endless background buzz of the mosquitos . My kids will lean against me with their beach towels and I will smell their lake damp hair, and rub their sun kisses, fish belly cold arms in an attempt to warm them up. Their larger than last year bodies will end up sitting their wet bums on my lap to make hugging them easier and allow my thighs to fully appreciate their growth. Which I'll better comprehend their sense of urgency as I transfer countless dry sandwiches to dripping hands out on the dock. I will rouse them from their well earned slumber to witness glow bugs dancing in a sky pierced by more stars than I knew existed. We'll squint and try to understand the texture in the sky to finally realize we can actually see the milky-way. It's a magical time that makes this long, butt numbing drive so worth it. Canada isn't just a pretty face, I'm positive she's a mom that reveals her geographical treasures to urge her brood to stretch and explore beyond her borders. Our lives are deemed rich through the moments we share with loved ones with absolutely no confusion of what really matters.
