Pic of the week : A great winter ramp scene at Montréal's Mirabel Airport in the mid-1980s. Have a look at those tails! The plan for the airport called for up to 6 runways and 6 terminals. However, due to a number of factors, this was never realized and YMX never handled more than 3 million passengers annually. It finally closed to passenger traffic in 2004 and all passenger flights were moved to the current Montréal-Trudeau Airport (YUL). #airporthistory

Pic of the week: #Concorde appears at San Francisco International Airport during a demonstration tour in October 1974. Concorde was banned from #SFO, which is a pity because that fantastic 1970s satellite building complements Concorde very well! Contrary to Los Angeles, San Francisco's economy in the 1970s and 1980s would likely not have generated enough demand to sustain luxury Concorde service to Europe. This fact was moot as on November 1, 1977 when the San Francisco Airp...orts Commission unanimously adopted noise regulations that effectively banned supersonic jets for good. Nowadays, San Francisco is brimming with busy IT millionaires. If a new generation of quiet supersonic aircraft ever sees the light of day, SFO will see a lot of them!
