Update August 21,2020 Sorry but we have not been given a date of reopening from the Town Council. However I can tell you that at last update we can put up to 20 on the ice (including coaches). However I am sad to say that currently with the hands free policy will be starting with those that have passed the complete Canskate level 1 and higher. Keep watching this Facebook page, and the website (AjaxSkatingClub.ca under News) for further updates. Emails will also be sent out once we get a confirmed date of opening!

The second webinar in our Back to Operations Club Connect Webinar Series will be on the topic of Return to Play & Club Protocols/Club Checklist. This webinar ...will take place on Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 12:00 1:00 pm ET. During this webinar will be reviewing the Skate Ontario Return to Play Protocols and highlighting the areas we have been receiving the most feedback on. We will be discussing the process for clubs and skating schools to start creating their own Club/Skating School Response Plan. This will include: -COVID-19 Club/Skating School Oversight Group, -Club/Skating School Specific COVID-19 Protocols, and -COVID-19 Club/Skating School Communications Plan. We will be releasing the Back to Operations Club Checklist COVID-19 Considerations Resource on Monday, June 29, 2020, which we hope our clubs and skating schools will find useful when starting to plan for this upcoming season. Hello Skating Families, Would like to start off saying that we hope each and everyone of you are safe, heathy and enjoying this extra family time. We do miss each and everyone of you and can not wait to see you and get back on the ice. We know that the government released recently that some individual sports including figure skating may return to practice but unfortunately this isn't the case for us just yet. Not all facilities have been given the okay to open as yet includin...g the Ajax Community Center. In this phase 1 of return-to-play the following are some of the rules that must be followed in order for this to happen. 1. Phase 1 is for those at the Junior and Senior competitive level of skating 2. only 5 people at/on the ice surface at one time (ie 1 coach/ 4 skaters) while following social distancing, all instruction MUST remain touchless. 3. 1 parent/guardian are allowed to accompany a minor and my sit in the stands while maintaining social distancing. 4. Separate entrance and exits to ice surface to help with social distancing. 5. Staggered usage of places to change skates in order to clean in between usages. Coming into the arena dressed and prepared to immediately take the ice is highly recommended to lessen the need for dressing rooms and lingering while changing of skates. 6. PPE must be available for all to use and clubs will need to coordinate this with the facility and the rules that they have been given in order to open. These are just a few of the rules that have been set out but a full list of rules will be sent out, posted on website and facebook plus inside the rink once we have been given the okay to return to the ice. We will keep you updated to what is happening as each phase is given the okay. This will be a long and slow process to get everyone back on the ice and especially back to great numbers. So we are asking you to bear with us and to respect what the federal, provincial and municipalities along with Skate Ontario are giving clubs, coaches and members to follow.
