Here we are...Day #2 with @drjodycarrington #gratitude challenge. This was hard. As I started the morning reminded of the difficulties of life and privilege. People complaining about the latest COVID issue. I was reminded that everyone doesn’t have what they need to access services right now.... It’s something I deal with regularly, but today was different. One client had to cancel their appointment because they didn’t have access to privacy and a safe place. After school personnel worked to make things happen. This creating extra work for this person. Another person cancelled because they don’t have access needed to technology to attend an appointment. This happens more than it needs too. Today’s world creating more barriers for people whom already have barriers. But...nobodies talking about that! #drjodychallenge #reconnection #reconnectionrevolution #connection #counsellor #regina

14 years ago was the first time I tried crack. The next day I went to hospital. From there start my life of Recovery...started my life! The last 14 years have been spent learning and getting to know myself. Learning and understanding my behaviours and patterns. It was no longer about needing or using alcohol or drugs to feel better, to have confidence or whatever my need was. It has been about change, growth and finding myself again. I changed the relationship I had with al...cohol and drugs. Which changed the relationship I had with myself. I always thought that I’d drink again Once I had healed my emotional damage, it be safe to drink again. I don’t want too anymore. I had relapses a long the way. I can’t say I have been sober 14 years, but that was when the decision was made to change. The relapses have been a part of my recovery. Every relapse I had, I used as a learning tool. There was something that happened, that lead me to that relapse. It was about not giving up...not giving up on myself. Over the years, I learned about being a child of an alcoholic, abandonment and attachment, ADHD and addictions, mental health, healing the whole self, C-PTSD and everything in between. The ugly times when I was in the throws of addiction, kept me from going back. See more

Tonight’s reading validated the fact that vulnerability breeds vulnerability. After sharing these men’s stories, a man in the audience opened up to everyone abo...ut his own experiences. He spoke of a childhood riddled with sexual abuse and pain. To escape the hell and mental anguish he turned to drugs for momentary relief. Go figure. Yet, there he was speaking freely and fighting for his freedom from addiction. We cried together. We applauded his courage and lifted him up. He knew that we were all in his corner cheering him on. Silence doesn’t work. Keep talking and others will follow. Thank you SaskBooks and Savannah Kosteniuk for changing lives. #books #mentalhealth #men #inspiration #motivation #healing

This post has me singing Let’s talk about sex, baby, Let’s talk about you and me...Let’s talk about all the good things and the bad things that may be, Let’s talk about sex. (no idea if my lyrics are correct) Talk about it! Talk about intimacy and pleasure. Be VULNERABLE with your partner. BE REAL. Otherwise it is just like riding a bike More importantly enjoy and love your body.

People will ask me what I do to look after myself, after days of listening to people talk about their trauma. This is what I do... About FALL EQUINOX ... Tuesday afternoon I spent time on some backroads in Southern Saskatchewan. Eventually, I found the right spot to spend some time with myself. I made some cacao, I received from @wholistichealinghub to sit with during my meditation and intention setting. I could never find this spot again if I tried...but I might. #holistichealth #holistichealing #coach #holistichealthcoach #backroads #cacao #meditation #nature #naturelover #nohunting #spirituality #spiritualjourney #lovelife #selflove #selfcare #practicewhatyoupreach #beautiful #fall

Alannah’s Recovery Tips - Tip #24 IF YOU FALL (fail, relapse, etc) GET BACK UP! My favourite thing to ask my nieces and nephews when playing hockey is did you fall? ... They need to learn the importance of a mistake, of falling down, tripping over the blue line. It’s going to happen! If you don’t know how to get back up and try again, you’ll stay down there. The more you practice the easier and more efficient you become at it. When working with clients, the longer your relapse is the harder it is going to get back on that path of recovery. I don’t care, if the relapse happens. I want you, to stop, get up and start again! I have appointments available NEXT WEEK! About last night... Double T Ranch hosted the team at Joshua Tree Learning Centre for a team building event. ToddTanya McNeice did NOT disappoint...neither did Ranger, Chico and Journey. After some safety, and instructions we broke into teams taking on some obstacles with our teachers, the horses. ... My GOODNESS! Many lessons learned. communication styles when I ask for help and when I don’t I like to think out of the box how to accomplish tasks where my attitude, stubbornness and competitive nature impact me that there’s something going on with my sacral/root chakra I still LOVE horses my willness or unwillingness in different situations communication styles I work better with There were many more things, some I knew, some I’ve been working on, some emphasized and some I’d never thought about before.
