The Albanian Canadian Excellence (ACE) Society in collaboration with the Embassy of Albania in Ottawa is excited to host a mini-series of virtual events to celebrate October Book Month otherwise known in Albanian as Muaji i Librit. This initiative will extend through the month of November, the Albanian Heritage Month. Our fourth session will be with Mr. Vangjush Saro taking place on December 10th, 8:00 pm. Our keynote speaker for the evening will be Mr. Ermal Muça, the Alba...nian Ambassador to Canada. Here's a short bio: "Flurans Ilia was born in Berat on May 16, 1971 in a family of intellectuals where the library and books occupy a central place in the family environment. The loss of his father would push him from childhood into the magical world of art. Throughout the school years he wrote poetry, sketches, stories, without publishing anything. The early 1990s found him on a Bohemian voyage through the Balkans, Europe, North America, to finally anchor in Montreal, Canada. Exile keeps alive his constant desire and contact with the Word. In the early 2000s, his mother published in his homeland his abandoned notebooks of poems. "Atavism" is the title of his first book of poetry, followed by six other volumes of verse and a collection of short stories "The apple orchard barracks". In 2008 he published in Tirana the collection of prose "The heel of memory". In 2014 he published in Prishtina the novel "Out of season". His continuous cooperation with literary bodies and supplements inside and outside the country, in the field of journalism, essay, prose, translation, have listed Flurans' name alongside his compatriots in the field of Albanian culture and speech."
