IMPORTANT MESSAGING REGARDING PLAYER AND PARTICIPANT SAFETY (Please distribute to your coaches and member families) In general all coaches, parents and players are responsible for their own and the team's health, care needs to be taken this weekend and next week.... it's gonna be HOT, ALL DAY and NIGHT.... If an umpire/coach and/or team official decides that the health and welfare of all at the park are at risk then I'm asking that you heed the warnings and accept a suspension of the game if that happens. Every park is different so this situation will differ between fields. If an umpire, player, coach or other individual falls ill from the heat or otherwise then they may be removed from the game and seek help from parents, staff and/or health care officials (Hospital or 911 as the case may be) and the game be continued...... the usual care for the health and well being of players, coaches and volunteers and everybody else is paramount. SEEK SHADE, DRINK WATER BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER. WEAR A HAT. DO NOT STAND-BY IF YOU SEE SOMETHING NEEDS ATTENTION. Please review the attached from Baseball Canada Grant Butler, BCLS BCMBA President

To our Baseball Family After much further discussion, our Executive has made the decision to not participate in Phase 2 - Return to Play in baseball. Several factors played a role in our decision which included the reality of the limitations on play allowed, the numerous expectations of our coaches, liability and concern for the well being of our program participants. The quality of our program would be compromised and our deep concern for being able to provide a safe enviornment were key factors in our decision. When Phase 3 is determined by Viasport and Baseball BC, we will reassess the Guidelines in the hopes of moving forward and providing you with the best program under the current circumstances.

Hello to our Baseball family: Baseball BC in conjunction with Via Sport announced that baseball activities as per Phase 2 of the Return to Play guidelines are allowed. This does not mean that we are on an immediate return to the field or to the "normal" game of baseball at this time. As an Association we are reviewing both the Baseball BC and ViaSport Return to Play guidelines in order to formulate and develop our own written plan. This plan is essential in managing risk and ensuring a safe restart to our program. Prior to restarting, every organization must have this explicit plan in place for the measures they will implement and maintain. Once this first required step is completed we will update you on the next steps moving forward. We are optimistic that with alot of work, we can safely meet the guidelines.

Hi Everyone: Alberni Junior Baseball is in the on deck circle and ready to step up to the plate and get the 2020 season rolling. We are just waiting for our Umpire In Chief (Dr. Bonnie Henry) to make the call. By all accounts our "new normal" for play this summer should be known by the middle of June. What guidelines and restrictions that may be imposed are still uncertain. Alberni Junior Baseball takes the health and well being of all our member families and volunteers ver...y seriously and that will be our top priority when moving forward with the new game plan. As an Association we feel that it is in our mutual best interest to refund all current registration money as well as the raffle fundraiser money that we were unable to proceed with due to the social distancing aspect. Your plans for the summer may have changed. As well, we may be able to offer a reduction in fees as a result of a possible shortened season. All refunds will be made payable via the method used when registering. - Online payments will be refunded via Sport Engine - Original payment cheques will be delivered via mail - There were a few cash payments and they can be picked up Tuesday - June 2 from 5 to 7pm at Field Meeting Room. Please be respectful of social distancing. Once Dr. Henry, BC Minor and Baseball BC confirm summer programming, we will re-open online Registration via our website at albernibaseball.com We will keep you posted via our facebook page and our website. Please know that we have been working hard to ensure that we are ready to go when given the signal to do so. This has been an exceptional and trying year and we thank you for your patience and understanding. 1 - 2 - 3 BASEBALL
