Meet our 2020 Aboriginal Education Partnership Program recipient, Lexis Roy! As our recipient, Lexis received full-tuition for the duration of her Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Sciences Program! Lexis is from Lac La Biche, Alberta, and attends classes at Portage College. Once she completes her program, she plans to become an Environmental Coordinator. During her free time, Lexis enjoys volunteering, being outside, backpacking, writing, and public speaking. She is also a v...ery talented soccer player and an active community member. When we asked Lexis how she hopes to make an impact in her community, she replied, By attending post-secondary, I am helping break down boundaries for Indigenous youth in my community, and can show them whatever they dream for their future, is possible, especially for young Indigenous women. I also hope to impact my community by creating and initiating projects that help bring everyone together, all while creating a better environment. #AlbertaPacific #scholarships #IndigenousScholarship

According to the Government of Alberta, in 2019, the forest industry supported up to an estimated 22,700 jobs in the province. We directly employ over 1,000 community members through full-time and contract positions. Investing in local talent has been a part of our strategy since the beginning and continues to be the key to our success. #AlbertaPacific

Sustainability is included in every step of our operations and goes beyond our forest practices. At our Millsite, we manage a water treatment system and a wastewater treatment system to supply our operations with water, sourced from the Athabasca River. After the water is used in the pulping process, we send it to the wastewater treatment system for cleaning. We proudly return 96.5% of the water used in our operation to the Athabasca River, with a small portion of the wate...r being lost to our product and evaporation. #AlbertaPacific
