It's almost time for our second Community Hub Night at the Alberta Avenue Community League! This week we will be joined by Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society who will be sharing Indigenous Teachings starting at 5:30 this Thursday! Once again we will also have an open pantry provided by Edmonton Foodbank, pet food provided by ALPL Pet Food Banks Edmonton and Area Division, menstrual products provided by No Woman Without. Period., and some clothing supplied by GiveBack Ed...monton,Alberta all completely free of charge! Fresh Routes will also be there to provide low cost perishable items like fruit and veggies!

Do you have old winter clothes cluttering your closets and unused small appliances filling your cupboards? Giveback Edmonton is doing a Giveaway in partnership with the Alberta Avenue Community League to provide Edmontonians in need with free clothing and household items. The giveaway at the hall will comprise of primarily children's clothing of all shapes and sizes, adult work wear and some small household items like coffee makers. Any donated items that do not fall into these categories (ie adult winter wear) will be distributed more directly Edmontonians in need by GiveBack Edmonton If you have items to donate give me a shout or email [email protected] to arrange to have them picked up.

This may be of interest to Indigenous women and girls in the neighbourhood.

UPDATE! MY BABIES HAVE BEEN FOUND AND ARE HOME SAFE AND SOUND! Thank you so much to everyone who shared! My heart is so full, I'm never letting them o...ut of my sight again! The fellow who picked them up reached out and messaged me on Facebook tonight thanks to all your Facebook shares I've never been happier to see their smooshy faces, I can't wait to hear their snores tonight. Thank you again so much to everyone and their lovely thoughts and prayers and for those who went the extra mile to help me put out the word to get them home.

Together with our friends at Parkdale Cromdale Community League and Eastwood Community League we put together a joint statement/media release denouncing Tuesday night's white supremacist rally near the Safeway in our community.

Some of you may have already heard that last night a group of white supremacists organized a rally near our community. Let us be absolutely clear: We are a community that welcomes all people, no matter what race, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation they may be, and we seek to foster belonging no matter what your background is. It is our core belief that our community should be safe for everyone, and we will not tolerate actions or words which compromise that safety. T...he actions taken by this group do not reflect who we are as a community, they are counter to our core beliefs of inclusion and safety, and we condemn them. Racist and fascist views should not have any place in a civil, democratic society, and we condemn those who seek to conflate their racist or fascist views with patriotism. Our diversity is one of our greatest strengths as a community.

Bear Clan Patrol is here! Starting November 1st, the group will be holding regular patrols down the Ave to help keep our neighbours safe and reduce social disorder.

I have been preparing for the watercolour afternoon on the 7th of November. This is one of the painting options. The outline is printed on watercolour paper to moving you passed the first steps of drawing. It is like a colouring book page but with paint. We will be focusing on warm and cool colours to give it dimension. It will be an 8x10" size. Check the event page to find out about registration.
